Should i? or it is better to purchase it through a particular carrier?
What are the things that I need to look into to make sure it's working properly etc, cuz i never used a BB before. Also, im gonna use it in southeast asia (I was told it's cheper here compared to asia). TIA
any 9700 that you'll get from here will work in Batavia/JKT, both T-Mo/Wind version or Telus/AT&T...etc version.
Indo only uses UMTS 2100 & GSM 900/1800 which happen to be available in all versions of BB9700.

If your buying it off craigslist i'd sugggest one of those cell company's I got mine for 650$ no logo no brand so when it boots up it has no brand either
just make sure the 3G bands match up, as CT10 mentioned above. once you got that sorted out, buy it, unlock it, and you should be good to go.
if you're buying off CL, just remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. expect to pay anything in the range of 500 to 650 (more if you want to get ripped off). if you're buying for less, beware.
