I'm fine with having my body scanned at the airport, or that of my wife's.
It's not like we're planning on smuggling contraband or explosives in the near future or ever so I'm not one of those who would be bothered or inconvenienced by this that much.

I challenged the TSA how come we got pulled aside? He replied 'random search'. For 6 people with the same surname; a 'random search'? He replied yes. Then he told me to file a complaint with the airlines so I went to the ticket-guy to inquire and he gave me some 1800 number to phone up. I never inquired about it but to answer your question yes they do.

i agree with the safety > privacy statement and the best possible solution in this thread is to have males scan males and females scan females. i would be totally fine with that.

That been said, racial profiling has been going on since 9/11 and some might argue that it's prevented terrorist attacks but others will argue it hasn't.
My personal view is that we're dealing with a enemy that can't be defeated because you can't defeat a religion.

It's horrible the society we live in these days you can't trust anyone it seems. All of these new regulations at the airport and where ever else will be hard to get used to at first but we will grow a custom to them over time like everything else in the past.
If it saves lives its worth it and thats all that really matters, and all of us will feel safer on a plane like it or not.

I flew last summer and I don't recall being patted down. I was swiped by the metal detector wand, but that's it. Or maybe I'm mistaken.
Pat down's the best way.

racial profile? doesn't make sense
what they should do is profile ppl who've been to those suspect countries. they already have the means in place... (the persons passport, and history in their computer)
im fine with the security tech seein me nekkid, but privacy should be a concern for women (so female security should handle that)
what i have a problem with is... (especially for frequent fliers) are all the x-rays
but i avoid stopping over in the USA and rarely visit the states so as long as its a USA issue
and you guys are confusing the terrorists with their religion... its not the religion that the USA is dealing with, The religion isn't the reason there are terrorists targeting the USA. Terrorists are targeting the USA because of 1. their family members/countrymen are getting killed by the USA 2. they're being occupied by the USA 3. the USA is supporting the killing/occupying of ppl terrorists feel akin to 4. etc
Religion is just a buffering tool for terrorists to do what they do, its not the cause of it in the vast majority of cases
people who fall into those 3 categories above, are angry/mad/filled with hate (understandably) and they've placed the blame on the USA, perhaps not understandably and ignorantly, for the cause of their emotions(everyone wants someone to blame) and they want revenge, justice, etc (whatever you want to call it) they're going to do something about it or they're on the verge of doing something about it. religion is used/warped(whatever) to justify what they want to do (to assure themselves that they aren't doing wrong)
so if you're going to target the religion you're not going to get anywhere, its targeting the wrong end of the fuse (all i can see that doing is to reaffirm their actions and gaining support for them from ppl who didn't feel attacked b4 and didn't give a shit)

If you don't like it then don't travel by plane. I think it's pretty simple.
I don't like it, but I wouldn't have a huge issue with it because it would mean my safety is more secure.
You will always have people complaining. That is how society is. When all the gang shootings were taking place everyone was freaking out about it, and going overboard about how the streets weren't safe etc
Then those same people start getting upset about Barwatch scanning your ID.
