^ ya but ratio =/= big upload credits*.... if that makes sense to you.

edit: *if the files small

underscore 01-10-2010 12:46 PM

Well no, but getting multiple gigs up for less than a hundred megs down is never bad.

dton13 01-10-2010 12:54 PM

yea definitely can't argue there. just checked some stats on my client. highest ratio was 266.5. downloaded 7.46 MB, uploaded 1.96 GB :p

yeah man it works. you just have to make sure the torrent is busy, you will always upload.

and yes people do download 52 gig packs like myself.

i download 1080p movie packs all the time and I always let those seed. they're my biggest uploaders, always using full upload bandwidth.

another one is popular TV shows, as soon as it comes out, download it fast, and just leave it uploading until it dies.

dton13 01-10-2010 08:27 PM

true i guess. well for me under my connection, i'll stay away from any file over 20gigs unless its on a public tracker because it just takes me wayyy too long to seed that back. I gotta cap my upload speed as well so I'm uploading maybe 150-200 gigs in a year haha.

ehh no I mean they aren't download anything, rather they are just seeding parts of the file, so you aren't going to be upping anything to these partial seeders (but they still show up as leechers in the torrent list).

Lol 58GB in under 24 hours..it's not free leech ya know
i've been on RevTT for few months now and I have less than 20GB in d/l.

twitchyzero 01-10-2010 09:59 PM

if i have 0.8Mb/s up and 12-13Mb/s down..older D-Link &Trend-Net Router with Thompson Speedtouch modem.

...what should I cap my upload rate in utorr so i can optimize my upload (not overwhelm my connection/router)?

but I thought if you only select some files, and download all those files, you count as a seeder? why would you count as a leecher if everything you wanted from that torrent is done?

You should cap it based on your provider. For me under shaw I just cap it to 30-40/kbps I don't know if their rules have changed since they added the new speeds but I used to see a drastic dip in d/l speeds when I was anything other that. I'm not in a huge need for upload speeds either since I have a pretty large buffer for my ratio ;)

The tracker sees it as "torrent incomplete" and thus, you are labelled as a leecher by the tracker. My profile on one private tracker says I'm currently leeching 2 files when in reality, I'm seeding some of the files from the torrent.

underscore 01-11-2010 06:45 AM

Well that's kinda stupid, especially considering I almost always uncheck the "Torrent downloaded from Demonoid.com.txt"
