Buyers guide: 01 VW Golf 1.8T

Hi

Looking forward to purchasing a 01 VW Golf 1.8T 5Sp under 170k for my daily driver. I'm recently new in this "euro scene" nor do i know much about VW or cars in general.

What should i be looking into before taking it home?

you should buy my 01 with under 130,000 instead
look for recent maintenance, if it had any of the recalls done for that year
( coil packs, sun roof drain etc.. )
check for coolant leaks
