Facebook and Telus Mobility question

I have unlimited Text Messaging from Telus Mobility.
I just installed Facebook Mobile.

I had to text "32665" (FBOOK) to set this up properly.

My question is, do I get charged for sending a text to a non-cell phone (32665)? e.g. updating my fbook status

Thanks for your help

i think these are called 'premium messages' just like, jokes, horoscopes, bible verses etc. As such, they are subject to additional charges.

this is the case with rogers.

I had solo mobile and it didn't charge me... It's best to either go and ask the reps or call in (don't call, you will get shitty customer service after 10 minutes of automated steps). Oh yea, if you have MSN messenger you can also set up the offline messages to be sent to your mobile and you respond to those via a random phone number (for each person on your contact list).. those should be free as well. But do ask the reps.

"Premium" text messages are those ones that TELL you they charge "X amount per message".

^ soundy's right. I believe whenever you sign up for the mobile notifications with Facebook, "standard carrier rates apply" so if you have unlimited texting, you will not get charged extra. otherwise, it counts as a regular text on your account.

yeah thanks for the responses. I surfed around and got mixed messages.

If you flip through the discussion, people with unlimited text are asking over and over if there's a charge when you text to the FBOOK number to update your status or sth. No one knows. The feeling is that it's free to use if you have unlimited text.

Then on the telus brochure I have at home it says "Premium Text Msg" not included. But it doesn't define "Premium". Then looking on the Telus website. They don't say anything about facebook being chargeable; they even promote FBmobile.
http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/s...facebook.shtml

So this is why I'm confused. Telus Customer Service is closed. Gotta be someone who works at Telus Mobility on RS right?

Edit: If you have an unlimited SMS plan - it should be free. Telus designed that FBOOK number as an intelligent network to support platforms like Facebook.

However, I'm unsure whether or not Facebook is a premium service or not on Telus Mobility.

From Telus Mobility's website:

Facebook on Telus Mobility

My wife has unlimited text messaging on Telus, she receives dozens of status updates a day, and sends a couple dozen texts back... never an extra charge.

best way to tell, create an account at telusmobility.com. send a text to "32665." wait a couple hours and then login, check under data usage and see if it shows a charge or not.

Awesome. It seems like it's free. "Premium messaging" sounds like its RINGTONE text companies.

It's all those things that send you jokes, horoscopes, contests, dating stuff... they'll say right on the screen or ad that it's "$2.99 per text" or something.
