| recommend a puerto vallarta hotel
hi guys,
was gonna go to mayan riviera but it seems too pricey. So i'm thinking of going to puerto vallarta. This is with my gf, not family, though i do know that puerto vallarta is more family-friendly.
Right now i'm considering Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort...it's not too pricey but seems pretty high-scale with good reviews.
Anyone have any recommendations?

I stayed at riu at DT Puerto Vallarta, it was the best. Everything was so close together. There's a mall near the hotels and couple of eatteries if you don't feel like eating the same food in your resort all the time.

imo, the difference in price for MR vs PV is well worth it. The beaches alone in MR is worth the extra cost.

if you have been to cancun. the farther you go up like cozumel or playa de carmen (MR area) water just gets better compared to cancun beach.
search the resorts in tripadvisor. and check out the pics. section

stayed in barcelo maya beach before. really big.
grand palladium seems to get good reviews in tripadvisor.
which site do you use to check for prices?
travelbestbet?
traveltst.ca
itravel2000.com
escapes.ca
acvacations
transat holiday
west jet vacation
sunwing
exitnow.ca
i have used escapes.ca and air canada vacations.
since your taking your gf with u. i suggest dont hesitate on MR. PV is no where close to MR. just the price. but you might regret PV for its beach

first time being in mexico, I chose PV and stayed at Holiday Inn... bad choice it was like a 4star and went during august of 2008... ended up being about $1100/person booked with Flight Centre. Everything was old at the resort and wasn't maintained very well, I didnt like how it was packed in with all the other hotels on the same beach. It wasn't private, so you had people trying to sell you stuff on the beach while suntanning etc... Ended up doing alot of outside activities ie: swim with dolphins, zip trekking, pirate ship cruise,..etc...
2nd time in mexico, chose MR and stayed at Grand Serenis. 5star luxury resort OMG... Went in December 2009 during the Xmas week. Cost was $1700/person. It was something i've never experienced before. Resort was HUGE, private beach, 5star food, private night club, gym, spa,... amenities you'll never get tired of for a week stay. Too much to list.
But mind you, I went during the high season, usually in the low season, I think its around $1400/person.

forgot to mention about the hotel class rating. make sure you go 4.5 star or higher. if its in your budget. the hotel ratings in mexico is totally different compared to here. a 4star there is really just a 3star.
