Planning to use cell phone in vegas - share your ideas!

To roam or not to roam......

So since I have d900 / unlocked bb curve sitting in a shelf, I think ill bring them down.

Heres my plan:
-arrive in vegas
-buy payasyougo at&t
-forward all calls from iphone to to paygo
-use bb maps and etc whatever for cheap data rates on pay as you go?

I havent fully looked into the pricing, but has anyone else done this? Im pretty sure itll work out better this way?

It should be like $30ish for 4 days in vegas, cheap local calling while im there, no roaming fees, I can call / text ppl we're with, with some data here and there?

Suggestions, advice, recommendations please :)

if you forward your canadian # to an american #, you're gonna get charged for call forwarding to a LD number. better check with your carrier.

There's no data on pay as you go

Data**
A whole world of information and entertainment is at your fingertips with a data package. Get weather, news and sports scores delivered right to your phone. Even better, you control what you receive when you personalize your home page by placing your favorite categories and headlines right up front. Surfing the Web from your phone has never been easier.
$0.01 per KB.

Why bother.
Tell your friends you are with to only call if they absolutely have to.
Tell family out here to only call in an emergency.
Ignore all calls and txts from everyone else.
Dont worry about maps. Just ask people on the street where something is. That is if you are walking. If you are taking a cab they will know where to go.
That will be cheaper then $10.

Bring your phone.

Add a US flat rate roaming voice/text/data package. Fido/Rogers has them. They're a lot cheaper this way than buying a SIM because the SIM is a flat fee of $25 or whatever plus airtime. It's an all-in-one package and provides the peace of mind.

I checked them out, only thing its missing is data, I want some because I might not always be cabbing, and Ill want to look things up on my phone once in a while(shopping prices, hours, etc). This is where iphone wifi might come in handy...

keep suggestions coming, thanks!

In a city like Vegas, you should be able to just bum off of random unsecure wifi.

I realize this isn't the most ideal situation but since you're not using a lot of it, it may be a last resort option.
