Watched the first episode tonight and it's so fucking good!
David Hunter (the director of part 2 and 8) said they spent a million dollars on the exact same black sand from japan, to re-enact one of the scenes. a million dollars on sand. they arent fucking around when it comes to authenticity.
I've downloaded Ep1 but I think I'm going to wait a few weeks before viewing so I can watch a bunch of Episodes in a row.

interesting, i didn't watch the video but from my understanding most of the shots were filmed near Australia..I'm surprised they took that to the next level. I wonder why they didn't film in japan, perhaps the Japanese government was against it (knowing them they're still so sensitive to the WWII subject)?
hmmm... somehow the first episode didn't do it for me. i had just finished watching band of brothers and went straight to episode 1 of the pacific. somehow, i didn't quite feel any connection with the characters... (well, maybe leckie)... hopefully that'll change with the future episodes...
Well it only went into Leckie so far, it just introed the other 2

I hate Leckie. Every time I see this guy, he doesn't sit right with me. He just bothers me. Maybe it's his goofy curly hair, or his tendency to try to turn every moment into a journal entry. He doesn't belong.
This is definitely no slight against the real Leckie, just his character in the series, and how he's portrayed.
Basilone is a pretty brave guy going out like that to push down the pile of bodies for a clear line of view.
