Ricing a motor vehicle?
Egging a motor vehicle?
Parking 1 motor vehicle in 2 spaces?
Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license?
Stealing a motor vehicle?
Taking a piss on a motor vehicle?

amirite or amirite?

anti-vip 02-27-2010 05:53 AM

you're a veteran at rs...you should know better...repost

this is the expected response and okay if you are the first to point out it's a repost.

LOL, Sorry, I may be wrong, but that just sounds like someone on a powertrip...

Also, I highly doubt people come on revscene checking for new stickies everyday so maybe you should consider handing out points instead of banning 2 days after you put up a new rule...

?NR 02-27-2010 10:42 AM

power trip? nope. you are wrong. it's an extraordinary measure when people do not heed warnings from the past.

points mean nothing to most members they consider it street credit or whatever.

thank you for your suggestion, but no points will be given. Just instant bans. The only variable would be the duration of the ban, permanent, or days. Up to each individual moderators discretion.

ELITE_TRAYUNZE 02-27-2010 10:49 AM

I agree points mean nothing, but I don't really see how bans mean much either. If one really wanted to come on the site that bad, they can simply have 2 accounts...

that maybe the case in regards to dupe accounts. If they do we'll just continually ban or seek out ips to ban until they get the message. We at the moderation level may not be able to get to it in time, we all have our lives to tend to, but each moderator has 2 eyes and a watch list. Only a matter of time.

some people learn on the second time, or third, or never. We just want to get the point across : RS free to use but not to abuse, whether it be spam or pointless usage. Administration doesn't like it, abide by our wishes for a better site or click the log out button.

this is going off topic. If there are any other concerns or comments, feel free to post a thread in member support.

thank you.

ELITE_TRAYUNZE 02-27-2010 11:01 AM

Okay, well this is a repost, so you might want to lock it....

?NR 02-27-2010 11:06 AM

I will leave it open for the time being.

may be a repost to you, however it may not be for everyone else. Goes both ways.

whoever didn't see it before, here it is.

whoever saw it before, we know it's a repost please move on,no need to state the obvious numerous times. Or feel free to pass the experience on.

ps: I for one did not see this before. So they took and lambo and bastardized it to look like ...what is it supposed to be? ... mustang?

Raid3n 02-27-2010 04:51 PM

no, i think they turned a mustang into a MR V10 monstrosity

?NR 02-27-2010 04:53 PM

^ ah. lego car.

CanadaGoose 02-27-2010 05:04 PM

This is the key point:

If it's a REPOST AND YOU'VE SEEN IT BEFORE, THERE IS NO NEED TO STATE THE OBVIOUS, UNLESS you're the first one to point it out in a mature way, just as a fyi to the original poster.

This way everyone else who hasn't seen it can come in and take a look without putting up with 50 spammed repost replies.

Like !NiteRaven said, it goes both ways, because what may be a repost to you, might not have been seen by everyone else.

Read this and understand it :)

moomooCow 02-27-2010 05:28 PM

The thing is, JiggaZed didn't try to instigate a "repost train", he finished it all up within his own post albeit with a little extra creativity..

If anything, g_i_g_g_i_t_y ( not personal <3!! ) went and wasted bandwidth posting "repost" a second time.

I see that E N D L E S S just stated that you have to point it out in a mature way but really, what's the big deal as long as everyone can clearly see that it says REPOST?

And seriously, comments like "Who wants to be next?" is detrimental to the atmosphere of the forum, especially under the circumstances.

The "law" was passed a couple of days ago, it's not as if people tested your (mods) patience on purpose, cut him some slack? I, for one, had no idea this chain posting was SO serious until I saw the instaban sticky...and even then, I misinterpreted it to be applicable only to people who post a single letter or a single sentence with a letter capitalized.

Anyways, I'm just voicing my opinion. Hear me out if you want to, after all, I'm just a petty member.

read my sticky again. All you mentioned, strangely sounds like the sticky I posted of what not to do. He got baited by another member to do as such, not my fault that he chose to do so against that rule.

I will again re-iterate :

NO

R
E
P
O
S
T

type of posts, if it is a repost, fine. Say it once, then go. Don't jump on the wagon and say it again. I'd like to believe that RS members are more capable of posting single word posts. (everytime someone posts "repost" it bumps the thread up instead of it dying a natural death.. if it's a repost don't bump it unless there is something else other than posting "repost" to contribute to it)

thank you for your opinion, and I don't think of anyone here as a petty member (except spammers or people that puts nothing useful back into RS). It has to start somewhere. He's not perma-banned. 9 more days and his ban will be automatically lifted. (i reversed it from a perma-ban fyi.)

as for being detrimental to the atmosphere of current RS, what makes you believe that RS is better off now? RS is coming up on it's 10th year anniversary, and frankly the atmosphere that began with RS, that made RS, is a mere shadow at the moment.

RS will not turn into 4chan. These rules are there to prevent that, like it or not.

Me as well did not know that any repost unless it was done in a mature way would be an "instaban"

I thought that only posts like
R
E
P
O
S
T

would be an instaban.

I would find fair that there should be a grace period, like the new cell phone law, where people get warnings for the first bit for it. Realistically speaking, not everyone reads the new stickies.

Just my food for thought.

GabAlmighty 02-27-2010 07:36 PM

Wow, that's pretty weak. First I get a warning for something that I believe was completely inferior to what I have seen others do on here and now I see this? He made no detrimental comment towards the OP, and I for one lol'd at it and if I was the OP (which I have been in his shoes numerous times) I honestly would've probably lol'd and facepalmed myself...

Guys need to open up a bit..

fishing666 02-27-2010 07:36 PM

the mustang is dead..not even a lambo can save it

?NR 02-27-2010 07:47 PM

there was a grace period for many many many many months if not years already. People have received points in the past yet it still happens to this day. This is not a new rule. Search past threads. Since there was no progress with to discourage this, it has been escalated to insta bans.

no grace period is needed as it is not a new issue.

fyi: it is also up to the individual moderator that spots it. Say If you registered on Feb 2010 such as yourself, and wouldn't have known because A) you don't see stickies on top or chose to ignore it B) not here long enough to know this has been a problem beforehand, the moderator will indeed see that and grant you a reprieve.

no point arguing it. this is how it is and will be, and it won't be a bother if rules are just followed.

GabAlmighty 02-27-2010 07:52 PM

I'm not arguing. I'm looking for understanding.

What's wrong with posting:
R
E
P
O
S
T

as oppose to me just going
Review have.... etc etc etc.

I just do not see how it's a negative thing in any way. No different than saying "search noob".

You don't need to get all high and mighty in your chair, just need to explain it. (Sorry i'm assuming you didn't mean to come off as that but it sort of is).

i read that sticky can't believe the person below me finished it off. LOL

?NR 02-27-2010 08:13 PM

i dont actually need to explain anything that has already been explained before. Not everyone will agree or see eye to eye on issues, just like anything else on this world.

doing this :

R <- 1 member/1 post
E <- 1 member/1 post
P <- 1 member/1 post
O <- 1 member/1 post
S <- 1 member/1 post
T <- 1 member/1 post

and the occasional fails inbetween because someone put "RE" or whichever in the wrong spot.

now WHAT is the point of all that? a simple " it's been posted before, but that was awhile ago. Pretty funny" etc would be more suitable. not scrolling down post after post after post just to maybe find a worthwhile response.

Do what Romans do when in Rome.

this is what the managment wants.
