seems like you got damage on the fender as well.
if you take it to ICBC, they will only give you an oem replacement

What's the weight difference? And for that matter what's the cost difference?

If ICBC is willing to pay $600 for a hood - if you choose to go with a CF hood instead, the shop can work with you up to $600 - any cost above what ICBC would pay you will have to cover.
+1 tho for the CF hood - Id probably choose to have the hood sides painted and leave the center CF - I think it'd look Bad Ass!

I'm going to go against the grain here and say no to CF... or, if you do, at least paint it. I personally think bare CF, especially on a hood, looks tacky and is too much of a throwback of your stereotypical Civic ricer. Keep in mind that you'll need to delete the "chrome" around the grill as well since you lose the top strip if you change hoods. As well, you need to keep in mind that by using a CF hood, you're changing the way the front of the car will crumble should you get into a front-end accident.
Also, regardless of if she claims she's going to pay you for damages incurred, at the very least call ICBC and start a claim. You don't have to persue it, but at least there's a record there that an accident did occur. This'll be handy if the other person suddenly decides that they'd rather not hand you the cash. Trust me, by failing to do so, you're simply setting yourself up for a potential hard screw.

Trust me, by failing to do so, you're simply setting yourself up for a potential hard screw. | i was smart about it, i started a video recording as soon as i got hit, so on the video i got her face, confirming that she was 100% at fault, and got her no.plate. and all the small talk. Therefore no witness needed.
i heard about the cf will not crumple in a accident. therefore i think i need hood pins.(also so it wont blow away on the highway) if i want to do it properly?
also CF hood is cheaper. as OEM hood will cost about 5-6 bills plus another 5 to paint. CF will be 5-6 bill without paining.

Hood pins are for preventing your hood flying away by strong head wind as you said..not for frontal collision.
What he meant by crumble is, there have been some accidents how aftermarket hood smashing straight into the windshield because the hood is not engineered to crumble safely.
yes, CF is cheaper, thats because a lot of CF hoods are just a fiberglass hood with wet carbon layer on top of it...it's not made by real dry carbon that you'd see in F1 machines, Zonda, LFA, Enzo, or any other exotic cars/race cars.
That's why some CF hood are going for $3,000+ and others are like $500.

Do it but like someone said above, paint the sides you can worry about your grille later shouldn't be too hard. maybe even go for some black roof vinyl?

If you do go cf paint it. A black cf hood on an otherwise stock looking car's not going to look very nice imo Posted via RS Mobile |

I would go with a CF hood, but make sure you get one that fits well.. nothing worse than unsightly gaps on the side.
You should also paint it.
