This is kinda fruity. IMHO I think your off on this one. I had an 'argument' over a Sam Adams and sushi last week with an immigrant in that i said that I dont think 'imports' should be 'upping' the power game. I set a scene. Next i mrntioned about the fact that Walmart as an analogy had ditched Glad bags from there shelf space. All I m saying is that there is no proof or credibility to have the 'strongest' brand recognition without the backing of an entire boardroom albeit guests or longtime members.

yeah I don't think upping the power and performance do any good to china cars. They need to come into the market and round up the segment under the Yaris and Fit which, more than you'd imagine, has a lot of popularity.

Currently that market is occupied by 15 year old kei imports but people would rather, of course, buy a new car. People who do buy old kei cars don't give 2 rats' ass about the performance as long as it's a plucky thing that carries his/her day to day stuff around in good grace (as long as it does the job better than the Smart for a whole less money the china cars got game)

Performance and power can come a lot later.

The metallurgy needed to build an engine in house in large production numbers and with any respectable amount of longevity is a strength that many car makers cannot achieve yet in China. Most smaller car companies rely on engines imported from Japan and Europe to make their own knockoff shells and dump the engines into them.

so GWM has a definitive advantage in that department.

Hell we build a lot of toyota cars but the engines are still made in Japan....

It probably has all those things. Remember GWM has been exporting cars to Europe and SE Asia for quite a few years now.
