Is a 75dB signal to noise ratio bad for a Class D mono amp?

Friend of mine is selling his amp and sub and I'm thinking of buying it.

It's an MTX MXA6001 amp...the specs are good on it, but I'm worried about the SNR, which is rated at 75dB...I thought anything below 90 was garbage...but that's mostly from experience with portable and home audios. The THD is a very respectable 0.25%, though...

Anyways...is that bad?

Also...would it be a good deal...12" Infinity sub in a ported Bassworx box (never used) and a very gently used MTX MXA6001 amp for around $150?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I would worry more about your enclosure design than the S/N of that amp. With lower frequencies I don't think the average person could tell what was 75db or 90db.

Toss the bassworx box and get one designed for that sub and your trunk area. You'd be surprised at how much of a difference the right enclosure can make along with placement and of course some sound deadening.

Thanks :)

Bought it...can't wait to hook it up
