she cant drive stick.WRX auto is hard to find and outta the budget.
so we're looking at an 2010 SER. taxes in we found a deal for $25000/ 60months no intrest, comes with sport pacakge and tech pack, cvt w/paddle shifters(navi/sunroof/lsd)
what do you guys think of these cars...i know the old SERs had issues but shes not the type to drive the car hard...
opinions...anyone on the board have one?
we're also thinking lancer gts and mazda 3 gt but those come close to $30000 top of the line i think

wtf is wrong with you ppl, keep on suggesting ppl to get a hyundai and a kia. If you love it so much why not sell whatever you are driving and be a sportsmanship by owning one first
They seem like decent cars. compared to your other choices the power is there at least. my sister has the Lancer gts and i must say, i dislike driving it very much.
if she can stand the lack luster interior of the sentra and the guaranteed rattles then IMO it's great bang for your buck. although i do find CVT transmissions odd.
"It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good ... They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time. "

she doesn't want a base model, and they're buying new, and doesn't wanna push 30 grand. doesn't leave many options.
i'm gonna assume she doesn't want a domestic car either. so i'm gonna go ahead and ask.. what other options fit her criteria other than the sentra?
There isn't that many options given the amount of constraint that's set. The only other cars that I can think of is the Lancer or the Impreza. If you still consider them as "base models" (since there's the Ralliart, the EVO, the WRX, and the STI) I can't think of any other cars off the spot. Well...perhaps a Nissan Cube or a Mini Cooper?
If you can do without the leather seats and sunroof, I purchased a Mazda 3 GT sedan automatic with no additional options for $23,000 and it comes very well equipped. The base GT isn't 'base' at all, you get a lot of features for the money:
- 167hp, 168tq, dual exhaust
- Xenon HIDs, Fogs, LED tails
- Bucket seats with sport cloth
- Interior illumination, ambient LED
- Dual climate control, heated seats (5 levels)
- MID (Multi-Information Display) shows avg fuel comp., avg speed, range, current fuel consumption
- Traction/stability control
- 17" rims, leather wrapped steering/knob
I believe the 2010 Mazda 3 is the first compact car in the market to incorporate dual climate control and Xenons. I highly suggest you take it for a test drive. The interior is amazing IMO and the smiley face will grow on you.
Leather/power adjusting seat +$1,300, Sunroof +$900. There's also the GT-E package which is +2,000 and adds navi, keyless entry, but users say the Mazda 3 navi is terrible and it would be better just getting a Garmin. I was in the same position as your gf earlier this year and I looked at the Civic Si, Corolla S, Lancer GTS, Sentra SE-R, Matrix XRS, Impreza, Fit, and the list goes on.

you may find the SER has some lackluster performance when paired with a CVT (they tend to whine when you try to lay on it) but the 2007+ Sentra doesn't have the same problems as the 2000 - 2006 Spec-V (Pre-Cat Burnup and Butterfly Screw Issues) Lots of B15 Lovers dont like the styling of the b15/c16 Sentra, but i do, and if i had the money, i would replace my 2002 SpecV with a 2010 (especially with the Auto Navigation Built In). the plastics and such have been replaced and upgraded so they dont feel so cheap, and if i remember Driving TV Placed it Second on a list of 20 Compact Cars a couple years back. remember, that even though the car has 4 doors, its listed as a 2+2 Configuration (2 People comfortable for everyday driving, and 2 more in a "Compact Mode" but you shouldn't have to worry about that till your "future expansions" crest 4 feet
i hate the styling of the new 3 and thus i wouldn't suggest one but it does come pretty well equipped.

Oh hai. ^___^:;
I sold my japanese car to buy a hyundai, and if I was in the mood for a small SUV I'd pick a Soul over a cube or whatever scion calls it's box.
If you need to know why people suggest a Genesis, you need to get your head outta your ass.
