some of you guys are wasting money putting 94 octane non-turbo/supercharged/low compression cars holy crap. Just because your fit has VTEC! doesn't justify it getting 94 octane or even 91....

for me, 07 335i, 91 octane
430-500km $80

I do not believe this 400+ km BS that people claim to pull off on their fits(not targeting you, just mentioning it).
When I first broke in the car, drove it quite light footed, Ive only ever hit 400km a tank once. Theres only a few people on FF.net who claim to hit these magical big numbers. I wonder how they do it.
You're running 94 octane on that car. Go back to 87 octane. Your engine doesn't have a high enough compression to burn 94. etc etc. Once you switch back to a lower octane it takes more than 1 fill up for the computer to adjust according to that certain octane.

That's terrible. Something seriously wrong with that. You should be getting at LEAST 420, 430, even with mostly city driving.

BTW, why are you guys using 94 octane in a freakin Fit?

When are people gonna learn, unless your engine/ECU is TUNED for a SPECIFIC grade of fuel, just use what it says.
If it says regular unleaded 87, then use it, not 94. Jesus.
Most economy cars will run WORSE on a high octane, because they are not tuned for it.

97 BMW 328IS

$45-50 to fill from 1/4, and I get probably 400-450 from 3/4 tank.

Then again I have a screwed up o2 sensor so that might be dragging my MPG down as well.

haha, the Fuel Econ meter on my car says 5.2L / 100km avg trip, but if I do my own calculation it comes to about 5.8 - 6.0 L / 100km. I drive VERY light footed. For me, it is not BS. Some of the hypermilers who claim they get around 50MPG on the fit forums, I will be skeptical. 400 + km on a 1.5L is a breeze.

I have only been running 94 octane since chevron switched to 10% ethanol which is about 2 tanks. I am running it just to compare if the 10% mix affects the average fuel economy. For me, I do not run it because i think the car will go faster because honestly, the 1.5 is gutless and won't go anywhere anytime fast.

When I still had my 07 Norco Sasquatch hardtail moutain bike,

I could ride it to Stanley park, around the sea wall, and back all on the cost of a McD supersized meal.

so I guess that makes ~60km for ~$6.

note: this was when McD costed less than eating at an actual restaurant.

Fair enough, have you noticed anything? I can honestly bet your mileage will be equal to if not worst than the 87 w/10% Ethanol.

Mmmm, gotta love the diesel engines mileage. Too bad we get raped with so little selection of diesel cars. High torque, great mileage, engines last longer. Whats not to love? Great advancements have been made to make the emissions cleaner. Look at Mercedes with Bluetec.

I'd love to have a BMW 330D.

I've actually been thinking to switch just for that...

the whole reason people don't use ethanol gas like Mohawk the whole time has been using is deteriorates hoses/gaskets, gives you less mileage, and is just generally bad for your fuel system. but it does boost octane and is cheap + renewable resource.
