List of Tire Mount/Balance skilled installers w/ Touchless Corghi Machines

This question pops up almost every other week, where can i get my tires installed? i dont want a place that will damage my wheels.

Here is the end all and be all of questions!

What is tire mounting? THIS IS NOT PUTTING YOUR WHEEL N TIRE ON UR CAR. Tire mounting is putting the tire on the wheel, simple as that! However, having the right tool to put on low profile, high strength side wall tires will help prevent damage to your wheel when the tire is slipped on.

What is tire balancing? Not every wheel is created perfect, not every tire is created perfect, their weights may be off and thus when spinning, throws off its center of balance and thus u get that wobble/shake feel! A tire balancer tells the technician where to add weights on the wheel to compensate for this.

If you are running a high profile tire, lets call it 50 series or higher, then you need not worry! Go see any well accreditted tire shop, they should be able to help you! They have the skill, but may not have the machine!

If you are running oem wheels, steelies, basically anything that has a lot of sidewall tire to go with it, you need not worry. See above!

Now if you run a low profile tire, 45 series, 40 series, 35 series, 30 series, and yes even 25 series (they do exist!) then you might want to keep up with this thread!

How does !SG know they are trained to used the corghi machines?
- Because I WAS TRAINED to use these machines, and i have seen these ppl use the machines and thus i know they know how to use it!.

Why is !SG so damn good?
- I just am.

I had a set of unmounted wheels that were just refinished by a mobile wheel repair guy. Didn't want to risk going to usual tire places where they use a leverage bar with their mounting machine . So went to DriveHard to try their touchless machine and the results were perfect - not a scratch on the refinished lip.

Great guys, too - shop manager and mechs were ver friendly. Cost was also much lower than other shops with the Corghi machine.

Worth checking out if you care about your wheels!

Yeah... if you have extremely low profile tires, dont go to general tire shops. I work at one and our machine leaves scratches all across the lip of the rim if you aren't careful. Volco also has a touchless tire machine located on bridgeport close to no 5 in richmond.

March 2015 Update

Hey y'all, just got my tires stretched personally so I thought I'd share a bit of my knowledge seeing the most recent post on this thread was quite a while ago. Here's some places I've called, and the quotes they've given me for a mount & balance, no dismount & no stretching

- Drivehard Performance (Richmond) [$40, see below]
- BJ Autohaus (Burnaby) [$70/hr labour]
- Big O (Kingsway) [$40]
- Sorat Wheels [$45]
- Speed Syndicate [$45]

FYI : I personally went to Drivehard because it was the cheapest, and they had an opening the earliest. Upon arrival I was informed that stretching would be more expensive, totalling at about $200 to stretch four 235/35/20 tires on 20x11 wheels. Total incl. tax came to $224. Next time I'd try another place in search for a better price.

DriveHard Performance

I can confirm that DriveHard has flawless clean equipment and very skilled technicians. They did a car for me last month (wheels mount/balance and 4wheel alignment), I was very pleased. As a Volvo tech I have not let anyone touch a car I owned or serviced since the early 90's and I can honestly say I am particular. These guys have my confidence, highly recommended.

side note: Peter, who runs the shop, is excellent to deal with. Jeff is A1 technician.
