They never got in to how the ricin in the cigarette disappeared. I'm guessing one of Gus's guys found it, which is why they kidnapped Jessie @ the cop shop. At first I thought the kid smoked the cigarette and got poisoned.

I never really understood the Walt/Elliot/Gretchen relationship. From what I gathered Walt & Gretchen were @ one point together, then Gretchen and Elliot kicked Walt out of the company.
in one of the episodes i think walt mentioned the work that he did (I presume with Gretchen) ended up winning the nobel prize

Walt left the company when Gretchen and Elliot hooked up. They didn't explicitly say it, but they implied it that Elliot stole her from him.
BTW, thanks for the Moncado bros interview. Can't believe they were just nobodies that was picked up from the film's Security Dept. and yet were/are one of my favourite parts of the show.
