Also a site is reporting that they did a benchmark test with a prototype N8 and it proved to be "180% faster" than the N97 based on SpeedyGo and "54%" faster than the Omnia HD; all there is is a screenshot of the results that was supposedly taken from the N8
Invisible sky daddies commanding people to do shit is just so beyond retarded, I feel like punching myself in the balls until I shit my computer chair.

Nokia is scrapping Symbian from their N-Series line.... Meego will be used on all future Nseries' (even when Symbian^4 comes out apparently)

Nokia to use Linux for flagship N-series phones
Tarmo Virki, European technology correspondent

HELSINKI (Reuters) - Nokia Oyj will use Linux MeeGo software in its N-series lineup, hoping the new platform will give it a better chance to battle against rivals such as Apple Inc and Google Inc.
The N-series has been Nokia's crown jewel for years and it dominated the smartphone market before Apple's iPhone was introduced in 2007.
Nokia's next flagship smartphone, the N8, will be the last N-series phone running Symbian software. Symbian remains the market leader for smartphones, but has lost market share in recent years with the rise of the iPhone.
"Going forward, N-series devices will be based on MeeGo," said Nokia spokesman Doug Dawson.
Nokia and Intel Corp in February unveiled plans to create MeeGo, merging Nokia's Linux Maemo software platform with Intel's Moblin, which is also based on Linux open-source software.
"The confirmation that MeeGo will be used for the next flagship Nseries device shows Nokia is betting the ranch on this platform to beat high-end rivals such as Apple's iPhone," said Ben Wood, research director at British consultancy CCS Insight.
Versions of the Linux operating system -- also including Google's Android, operator-backed LiMo and Palm's webOS -- have won increased share of the mobile device market.
In the first quarter the total market share of Linux phones rose to 14 percent from 8.5 percent a year ago, according to Gartner.
Linux is the most popular type of open-source computer operating system available to the public. Its direct rival on PCs is Microsoft, which charges for its Windows software and opposes freely sharing its code.
havent posted in awhile but theres been a shit ton of videos on it and t he phone is definitely impressive from what's been seen on the latest prototypes and supposedly there's already a UI upgrade coming for those who don't like th elook

just another video guys this was shot with the Nokia N8 (theres zoom @ 0:34) before you accuse this of not being the N8 i've added another video at the bottom which demonstrates the N8's digital zoom capabilities on early firmware
(the video was edited with iMovie)
I got a chance to play with it last week as I know someone that owns a prototype. It's a great device, seems a bit sluggish to me compared to the Galaxy s when you're flipping through the screen. The UI is lacking as well, compared to, u guessed again the Galaxy S; however, the cam is pretty awesome, and the body feels far better than the Galaxy S, as the N8 is made with aluminum.

yeah first it was rumored and then Nokia denied it
and then some in Nokia denied the denial... and then all pre-orders were changed from End of September to End of October
some in Nokia have said it was to make Firmware changes
some eagle eyed bloggers found out that QT 4.7 was Just Released which makes browsing/etc up to 3X faster so its suspected that its the implementation of that
but you would think they would just offer a firmware download instead... (but some argue Nokia just wants people to have the perfect experience out of the box)

So Nokia finally released the N8 today to meet their announced Q3 release date
Nokia Stores etc have filled their shops even
and they released some pics from their chinese factory (not foxconn, nokias own)
as usual Europe Middle East gets the Made In Finland ones
Pre-Orders are the highest they've ever been for Nokia so actual retailers, other than Nokia, might not get their units until well into October/November

Engadget did a review but they were found to have lied about the N8 and fucked up the photo samples to look worse than say a E71 (they're soooo anti-nokia these days)
