^^^^what it sounds like (from the blogs) is its based on your phones embedded info as long as its got the UK info in it you can download from the music store (people travelling out of the UK aren't blocked from getting music while on holiday)

So today we have Confirmation that updates for Symbian that come in the future for say Symbian^4 or Symbian^5 will be available for Symbian^3 phones etc
this is because of the QT tools which will allow cross platform compatability (symbian^3,4,5,etc, & meego)
Quote:
Even more importantly, you can buy a Nokia smartphone confident that any improvements introduced later to the Symbian platform, such as the user interface, can be made available to download on your device as well. No need to wait for Symbian^4 — the improvements we were planning for Symbian^4 will be introduced as and when they become available. In fact, we will no longer be talking about Symbian^3 or Symbian^4 at all – it will be one constantly evolving and constantly improving platform.
here's a video that covers a snippet of the press release

why wouldnt it be worth getting?
the fact that its upgradeable makes it pointless to hold out, imo
the only issues people have had with it right now is the built-in browser and the lack of pinch-2-zoom in ovi maps and the lack of qwerty portrait (which is possible; like in ovi maps but just wasn't implemented its expected to be offered in the 1st firmware update though)
both the browser and ovi maps are already well on their way out of the beta stages (by the time you can get an n8 in your hands the new browser and ovi maps will likely be out) or you could just use Opera or download the betas

For those who have seen videos of the N8 homescreen and complained about "lag" when switching between homescreens (its not lag but n8 did it on purpose as a feature apparently)
anyway someone sent a video to the mynokiablog website to showcase the new N8 firmware that he is testing out and Nokia removed that pause since they've been getting so much flack for it
also it shows the updated Browser that is still being worked on (so dont be concerned with any errors u see) and supposedly portrait qwerty has been added as an option according to the guy who made the video (although not shown in the video)

yeah i just heard that its coming out to Rogers in November
heard it thru the grapevine over at a nokia blog
the video above showing some of the firmware updates has been removed by Nokia btw
but here's a pic of Portrait Qwerty on the N8 (not sure if this is a mod someone made or a part of the next firmware update as it comes from a different source) as you can see this seems to be a chinese kb too
i spoke to a few rogers wireless stores, they all confirm that the Nokia N8 will be available at rogers within the month
one rogers location in aberdeen mall already ordered the phone and is expected to arrive in 2 weeks
also, for those that are wondering about branding, they say that it wont have the "rogers' logo on the phone, as all of there Nokia phones and Apple phones are never branded to say "rogers"

^the nokiausa.com is 549, nokiauk is 429 british pounds and so on and so on
why is it that the actual nokia sites are selling it for a minimum of 549 US and rogers will sell it for 100 dollars cheaper? even the fact that our dollar isnt higher then the US? on top of that its cheaper then the new blackberrys even with a plan it almost 100 dollars cheaper then the blackberrys
and even more, rogers will be selling it cheaper then ANY aftermarket phone company in BC?
don't get me wrong tho, i certainly hope that they sell it that cheap, but a side of me is saying that its too good to be true
aside from that, Rogers also has their own stuff on their phones. any partnerships means they can preload someone else's app for a charge and be able to charge cheaper
