Great.
Thanks for the news.
This may actually be better than SlideUnlock. Plus, bubbles is free by Nokia.

No update available on my phone.
Phones from EU should have the update already.
I got mine from Newegg.ca.

Here is a changelog I quoted from HoFo:

Changelog:

* Web updated to 7.2.8.10
* Quickoffice updated to 6.4.166, editing functions now enabled on the N8 (i.e. don't have to pay to upgrade), improved zooming functions
* Adobe Reader updated to 2.5.653
* Big update to Nokia Email; performance improved; 'unread emails' flag added to homescreen widget; meeting requests can be accepted directly from email invitations; maps integration, which means people can view the meeting location on the map when the address is mentioned in the location field in the invite
* General performance improvements
* Dialler now works in landscape mode
* Previous performance updates are rolled in and, in the full (Ovi Suite-installed, >100MB) image, there's the facility to provide a better working starting point than hard resetting a PR 1.0 device

PR 2.0

if you're wondering about the iphone icons those aren't part of the browser they're wordpress' app icons

Rumors are saying we might see the new browser released this Friday (tomorrow) or during MWC (which starts this weekend)

Amazon dropped their N8 prices to $399.99

If you haven't bought one yet though I wouldn't just yet... I'd wait to see what else Nokia is willing to do for it... considering they've killed off Symbian and pissed off all their developers and their employees walked out.... I don't think its a good idea yet even though the phone is really good as it is; it just wouldnt be smart imo

So Nokia Beta Labs have come out with Another great feature for Symbian phones

its low power animations for the sleeping screen

get it here

http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-sleeping-screen

this is why I love Nokia, so many strides lately on improving the features but then Flop comes around and ruins it all

Well Nokia took a poll recently from users about which colour fans would like to see for a new N8 housing 'Red' won but it looks like Nokia is set on releasing a 'Pink' edition as well

And well here is the Pink(fuchsia??) N8

comes pre-installed with PR2.0 (now dubbed ANNA)

Play To (DLNA)

Nokia Beta Labs just released a DLNA app for Symbian^3+ devices

In case you were still hoping for something other than HDMI + BigScreen here it is (i still prefer the hdmi+big screen)

I HEAR some high bitrate 720p videos (15mbps ish) aren't able to play smoothly; as in the ones you record with your N8

Not really news but if anyone enjoys seeing the N8 camera @ work

Nokia held a competition that was showcased @ the Edinburgh International Film Festival
The winner got $10,000

rules are it has to be an original film and you have to use the N8 to film it

here's the page with all the finalists http://www.vimeo.com/nokia/awards (some of the videos won't embed here so you'll have to go to the link)

This is the winner

Finalists

there's a total of 8 videos just linked some of them

There's a good one called 'Dirt' but it won't embed it's an end of the world apocalypse film

They've had that for the N95 it seemed to work ok

some of the macro videos i've posted in this thread were done with a macro lens rubber banned to an N8

i cant find the review of the magnifyer like that anymore..

but this is a video by that guy who makes those great videos ive been posting

thats what he does

a Korean company had a special Macro lens made specifically for the N8 but it was only a demo unit dont think they ended up selling them

edit: ah found some reviews for the telescope (on the n95) ppl have fun with it, it works, but the quality stinks havent seen anyone use a telescope lens on the n8 though; there's videos of people filming through a telescope but it sounds like an actual telescope for astronomy hobbyists and not a little attachment

oh just saw this

$40 for both
Fisheye, Macro, and Wide Angle Camera Phone Lenses

its like the AnyDica (lol) N8 attachment that debuted at Photokina but doesn't look like it made it to market this is made for any cell phone though not n8 specific it attaches by way of a magnet/adhesive ring

should be fun to play with
