I can't believe this E46 M3 has not sold yet

I have seen this E46 M3 vert for sale for over 6 months, I can't believe someone has jumped on this....for god sake, the car comes with Motons!!!

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...660099132.html

the reason I think it has not sold are;

1) price is a little high
2) beige interior...
3) vert, most performance minded enthusiasts stay clear of verts.

regardless, the owners spent some serious coin on it

thumper 03-25-2010 06:37 AM

looks nice. and it's not SMG to boot.

but i've driven a stock e46 m3 vert before and it was creaky/shaky as hell on bad roads (i was on king ed)... will that get worse with all those suspension mods on it?

you say the price is on the high side... as a bmw owner yourself, what do you think it's worth?

SumAznGuy 03-25-2010 06:44 AM

Normally, I hate beige interiors, but this black/sand interior isn't that bad.

lowside67 03-25-2010 06:48 AM

The reason that car hasnt sold is he has a bunch of mods that are by far most well appreciated on a track, on a cab. He needs to part some of that stuff out to see some value out of it, a typical cab buyer couldnt care less about an stiffer lsd. The price is also out to lunch - if he really wants to get that car sold, the price needs to be $29,900 - there are a bunch of 03s for under 30k and although this one is surely the nicest, $38,500 buys you an 05-06.

If the car was stock it would be worth approx. $30-$34K due to very low KMs & having an Individual option. His mods are sick, Motons would run you approx. $8K, the diff $4K...he must have spent over $12K on his suspension alone. If I wanted a tricked out vert, I would pay up to $36K for this beast due to low Kms and mods. I am sure this car would have sold by now if it was a coupe....it doesn't make sense doing track mods on a vert.

dogeatcookie 03-25-2010 07:13 AM

I've checked out the car when I was car shopping a few months ago. Very nice car but there was a little more wear and tear in the interior than I would like for a car with 34000kms at the time. Those motons have to be rebuilt once in a while and I don't think the owner has any of the stock parts since he bought the car as is. That could also pose as a problem for potential buyers. Other than that it is definitely the cleanest and most well modded m3 on the market, despite the fact that it's a convertible.

lol the motons don't cost 8k...more like less than 4 with installation.

Greenstoner 03-25-2010 07:17 AM

His car is better looking but has 82k and doesnt have nearly the level of parts that are in that cabrio from a performance standpoint. Really him and the cab guy should get together, all the showy but no go body parts should go on the cab and all the track-ready performance parts should go on the coupe.

You are confusing the club sport kit with the motorsport kit.

The Club Sport kit is available sub $5k, the motorsport kit is $8k+ for 2-way and well over $10k for 3-way.

Edit - here is a complete Moton 1-way kit for $2850.

is Kyle's the charcoal grey one with quad projectors? if yes, his is cosmetically hotter, but has 82K kms Vs 35K kms.....

E46 M3s are valuable only if they have low kms......for whatever reason, high KMs E46 M3 are not worth much. Look at Shyguy's M3...with over 100KMs, he cannot sell it for $28K. Plus most people looking for E46 M3s are right now are less interested in a baller ride or the fastest ride, they want E46 M3s for the feel and overall balance.

greendb7 03-25-2010 08:40 AM

It is a clean and well kept M3, but once again it is a vert.. I would never consider a vert as an enthusiast, but that's just me.
so for a non enthusiast, they see a stock looking M3 for $38xxx they arent gonna even consider it either

Why is that? is it because maintenance?

ya with $25g invested, you would think he'd AT LEAST get a set of Iforged/HRE rims or SOMETHING

Z3guy 03-25-2010 08:54 AM

Maintenance for an E46 M3 is actually pretty inexpensive for the first 80,000kms....nothing extraordinary other than $200 oil changes & valve adjustments. However as E46 M3 age, the VANOS systems & SMG hydraulic pumps are a common problem. Fixing the VANOS system at the dealership is approx. $4K and SMG pumps approx. $5. However, in the aftermarket, they are selling new rubber seal kits for the VANOS system which costs hundreds Vs Thousands. You just have to find a shop with the specific VANOS tools.

Mugen EvOlutioN 03-25-2010 09:04 AM

my old co worker has one, he said each time he takes it back to get it serviced, he gets raped in the wallet. He has the navi+SMG package

Z3guy 03-25-2010 09:13 AM

^ not sure what he is paying for....did he have a SMG pump issue?

His ad says he has the clubsport kit which is $5200 cdn on bimmerworld so $4K installed would be a really good deal on a new set of clubsport.

drunkrussian 03-25-2010 09:39 AM

dayum check out that baller house in the background

better price than what i was quoted. way back when i was looking for an e46, i was quoted $7k to repair a failed VANOS setup on an m3 that was being sold for too cheap... thank god i had it inspected (that, and the broken rear subframe).
