I need a favor, i need some help from you guys to look up some prices

ok, i only really know of autotrader.ca to look for used cars

but i want to find out some prices of 98-05 Lexus GS300's

im fearing icbc will try to lowball me, so im doing as much research as i can myself, BUT, if u guys know of any other places to look for used cars, greatly appreciated.

i know RS has a used car section, duh, but i also know the GS isnt exactly a popular car out there.

thanx for your help,

prices would be cool too! thanx.

Wouldn't you be able to leverage resources at work? I mean, there have to be people in the BJ Auto Group who deal with used cars, no?

You could, but ICBC extremely low-balls you cause they could've sold the car for parts if they wrote it off, so if you do decide to buy it back, ICBC pays you a fraction of the price. From the pics !SG posted, there didn't seem to be any engine damage, but the frame was pretty bent, not sure if it'd be worth it to rebuild?

!SG: The people writing off cars compare your car to a similar car for sale here, and they go detailed into your trim, options and everything.

What options do you have on your car? (Sunroof, upgraded sound system, foglights, etc)

Engine size?

KMS driven? (If I remember correctly, once they find a car similar enough to yours they add or subtract money, depending on your KMS, it should be 2 cents/kilometer.)

When an adjustor contacts you (they're usually pretty nice guys), they'll tell you how much they offered, and minus your deductible, ask them where they found the ad, then look at the trim yourself, and do the calculations. When you're "negotiating" with them fax them over the ads you found (they dont really like e-mails) and then call them the next day. (They usually leave at around 4 to 5pm)

Be nice but firm, and usually if they are nice they will help you out a bit, if you both don't have an agreement ask to speak to their manager, who will take another look at the price they offered.

Best of luck dude.

thanx for the advice.

this is how babied and detailed my car is. i have the original, yes, original, window sticker from the dealership on the car.

since purchasing the car, i did a full fluid change. everything from coolant up front, to royal purple diff fluid. The car has been fully repainted to updated lexus starfire white pearl (from my diamond white pearl). cosmetic wise, everything oem on the car was updated to the 01-05 look. front grill, rear tails.

my car is the lexus gs300 w/ premium package.

ugh, im feeling like crap, and everyone keeps telling me to rest up, but i know, if i just sit around right after this accident, its gonna be worse. im gonna stiffen up, and feel even worse. so im trying to, even if im sore like a mofo, to walk around, be somewhat mobile.

Unfortunately, ICBC doesn't give a shit about whether you babied the car or not. Yes, I know, I was so pissed when I found that out too.

Tuneups, Tires and etc are all considered a "Must do/have" so ICBC does not count that towards extras.

If you have parts that aren't required to drive, such as upgraded sound system or whatever, that counts towards extra money. Try to dig up all of your receipts for aftermarket parts, and fax them over when they ask you to, that should add on value to the car, but don't quote me on that.

You really should rest up dude, just contact a lawyer and sit back and let them do your work, cause after all, they are getting a cut right? It's best to rest up now and think more clearly later.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any lexus gs300's for sale.

Here's a few ads I quickly dug up from Craigslist:

2003 Lexus GS300 Sport Sedan - $12900 (Chilliwack)
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...652846368.html

2000 Lexus GS 300 - $9980 (Vancouver)
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...657550936.html

2001 LEXUS GS300 94000km - $11200 (Port Coquitlam)
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...649376089.html

Take care dude, I almost shit my pants when I got into my first accident.

I'd use autotrader more. They're mostly dealerships so generally the prices are higher. I got 2K more for my accord than what I paid for it

Dealer retail is usually higher than private sale retail, and both are obviously a lot higher than trade or wholesale value.

ICBC usually offers close to private owner sale retail pricing.. essentially they offer almost enough money to replace the car with a similar car off craigslist.. usually they make it close enough that it's not worth the time and money to fight for an extra $1000

You do NOT want to rebuild the car. If it's not done 100% right, you will constantly be fighting with wiring prblems and short circuits and blown fuses from kinked or frayed wires, alignment problems, and noises and creaks and rattles. blech.

You either have very minimal experience with rebuilds, and/or a bad experience.

Something being fucked up because it was "Not done 100% right" can apply to almost anything in life, not just rebuilt cars. It would NOT be smart to rebuild the car on his own. Instead, if he wants, he can accept the offer, then if he really loves the car, buy it from ICBC (im sure he can find someone with a license to buy, I have one) and have it fixed (better know a bodyshop otherwise it will be pricey), and he will most likely come out with his car fixed plus some extra G's in his pocket.

SG does not need a lisence to buy his car back. I'v been through this situation before, and they allowed me to buy back my car. ICBC will always lowball you with their first offer but just reject their offer. Ask them for more money and provide them with some reciepts for some of the things you've done to the car. If you're willing to wait, you can get more for the car because they want to close the case.

thanx for the help guys.

i wanted to look at some ads to see what my year make and model is worth w/ something a close to my milage as possible currently. 1999 Lexus GS300 w/ premium package.

i found one in victoria for 13,995, and one in the states for 11,991.

and as with my christina, my gs, it was a tough time finding her, as it is now, trying to find info and pricing on one.

ICBC called yesterday to tell me its a total loss. they were kind enough to let me have it towed to my shop, where i will be putting everything back to stock on the car.

the gst voucher doesn't expire. it says it has expiration date, but it actually doesn't. i've used one that was about 2 years old.
