Running 2.1 on my x10! Rooted it too! Finally can use 2.1 apps and wireless tether!

RR33 11-02-2010 04:29 PM

mine aswell! the 2.1 update was good.. but still nowhere near as HTC sense. mediascape slowness improve abit! goodlord.. SE can't get it right after all this long wait.

rooted it aswell but having a hard time to get Barnicle tether wifi works.. bahhh!

nns 11-02-2010 06:17 PM

Glad it worked for you guys. It's not working for me. I run the .bat fine, but after it's done and I start up the phone, it goes into an endless loop of trying to boot up.

Kamui712 11-02-2010 06:22 PM

I've been considering buying an X10, but with no multitouch... how do you guys play games like NOVA or games that need multitouch?

nns 11-04-2010 08:44 PM

Can anyone explain to me what the purpose is behind rooting the X10? I already have 2.1 on the phone, but I'm wondering what this rooting offers in addition.

Ability to use root applications. Wifi tethering.

nns 11-04-2010 09:28 PM

Yea, I was just reading about it. I'm using Barnacle for wifi tethering. Is there any other app that's useful that can take advantage of root?

AVS_Racing 11-06-2010 12:45 AM

how exactly does this work? because i set the phone in flashmode and plug in the usb, and hit enter(nothing happens when i do), but the x10flasher just keeps saying searching for xperia. and it never finds anything, after a while my phone just restarts and loads normally

am i supposed to install some sort of se pc suite before i do this install?

SkinnyPupp 11-06-2010 04:10 AM

I saw the X8 today, it looks like a cheap piece of shit.

Check and uncheck the "usb debugging mode" box a couple of times in your phone options while its looping, it should take care of that.

Found the SE UI pretty slow overall compared to 1.6 (even after a several reboots and a few days of use), had to resort to using Launcher Pro. Anyone else notice this?

AVS_Racing 11-09-2010 12:29 AM

Yes I finally got this loaded on, I wasn't able to do it before cuz I corrupted the does so it just deleated it and started fresh and flashed it on the first try. And yes its laggy as fuck much slower than 1.6 has lag in camera when there was non in 1.6. Don't know etc se did on this and why its so buggy and laggy

And now the back button doesn't close in some apps like the browserit just goes back even when I hold back, led notification doesn't work most of the time and I can't find where to restore my backed up messages on the memory card

People have said that 2.1 will be laggy for the first half hour or so. I never really noticed it myself. 2.1 so far has been more responsive than 1.6.

OT, has anyone noticed in their status bar, for the data icon, it says "H" sometimes? On 1.6, it used to say "3" or "3G" I think. On 2.1, it seems to alternative from "E", to "H", to "3G". I'm guessing that's Edge, HSDPA, and 3G network access. I don't remember when I had 1.6 it ever using HSDPA; never saw an "H" pop up.

HSDPA = 3G?

JKam 11-10-2010 11:56 AM

wtf.. X12 is coming out. Going to be running 2.3. It looks like X10 but slimmer.. :(

sas 11-13-2010 08:10 PM

anyone else having trouble updating through pc companion? Is this the only way to do it right now?

It keeps telling me there is no update at this point? This is seriously my last SE product.

RabidRat 11-14-2010 02:17 AM

Installing 2.1 now!! FINALLY.. shit.

Note: PC Companion is still saying no update available, but SEUS works.

Go here:

Still waiting for them to crack the damn bootloader so we can finally throw a proper HTC Sense rom on there. I hate SE so bad.

You guys like how the dialpad vibrates and there's no way to shut that shit off? How bout the fact that you're forced to use the new SMS interface that lags like a bitch?

edit: I wouldn't even mind the vibration on dialing numbers if it weren't for the fact that it lags so badly that it's like *dialdialdial* BZZ-ZZ-Z-ZZZ-Z.

from experience, HTC sense isn't all that great either, though it does offer some benefits that SE doesn't have. The vanilla Android UI offers much more flexibility.

I think a lot of people @ first don't like vanilla android ---> go try out HTC/SE/Samsung/Moto UI--> come full circle back to vanilla.

You end up finding that these Skin UI's just cause lag, and get boring to look at afterawhile

I use Handcent SMS. I just disable notifications in SE's own Messaging program, so I only see Handcent SMS notifications upon receiving a text message.
