| Help in buying a mustang!
Hey guys, I know this is long but I'd appreciate some help. Here's the situation.
My sister is looking to get a new mustang convertible but I refuse to allow her to buy the horribly outdated current 4.0 V6. She has decided she'll wait for the new 2011 3.7 V6 model. However, she just got a call from her salesperson saying that they won't get the 2011 V6 convertible models until the end of August, which would suck for her because she misses the entire summer!
I went into the local Ford dealer and spoke with her salesperson about discounts on the current GT convertibles because of the soon-to-be released 5.0 GT with the Coyote engine. He said they'd probably start discounting the 2010 GTs pretty soon and that she might be able to get one for around the same price as a 2011 V6 convertible.
That was last week. Fast forward to today and he contacts her saying he spoke to the sales manager and can sell her a 2010 GT convertible with all the options she wanted for $39,147 (down from $46,028 MSRP).
How does that number sound? The options she wanted were: automatic tranny, cloth top, convertible top boot cover, and security package. The GT he is talking about has all of these and also an engine block heater and 19" wheels (rather than 18")
I'd really appreciate some input on the value of this deal, as I am not very familiar with mustangs and I thought we had a couple of Ford salespeople on this forum. Anyways, thanks in advance!

I hope your sister knows how to drive rear wheel drive with big power, because ford traction control doesn't work for shit.

Get a converitable smart car,
Most likely wont wreck it, goto a non local ford dealer bud, current V6 sucks, get a 2011 V6 vert with pony package. pretty much the same price.. (less actually).

wait for the new model.
she will regret it.
you save $6900 now, but after the summer you would see it as you wasted $39000 on an outdated model.
plus what if ford had a deal on the new stang with thousands of dollars off just to get the word of the new stang out there?

Go talk to Rich Sandor, he's a Ford salesperson and he's great to talk to on Revscene! http://www.revscene.net/forums/member.php?u=23906

wait for the 5.0 resale value will probably be better,
Or even wait for next year's V6. The 2011's will be here before you know it and it's the based on what I've read it's the difference between a good car and a great car. And the new ones are probably better on gas

The incentives from Ford change regulary, and I have no control over them. As of right now:
2010 Mustangs have $4000 off, and 6.99% interest. (or better if you have good credit) There is also $1000 custom car cash, which comes off the price (after tax)
2011 Mustangs currently have $0 off, but 3.99% interest for 36 or 48 or 60 months. Custom car cash does not apply to 2011s.
Now, of course there are no 2011's at any dealers YET, however, if you ORDER a 2011 NOW, you will be guarunteed AT LEAST that 3.99% interest *OR* the deal that exists when your order arrives. You can chose from whichever deal is better.
If you are a CASH buyer, go for the 2010, as it's a better deal. (I also have a 2010 black/black GT convertible for about $39 grand in my showroom.)
If you are going to be financing, order the 2011 now, and you can get it within 8-12 weeks, and you can get it exactly the way you want it.
The 2010 and 2011 look pretty much EXACTLY the same on the inside and out. The only difference is the engines and transmissions. (the 2010's have 5spds, and the 2011's all have 6spds, auto or stick)
I have manager's access to inford and I can see that my dealer has several 2011s in the order banks, and I can see where they are and when they are due to arrive. If you want one ASAP I can show you what will be arriving.
I have a customer's 2011 GT that is due to arrive here on May 05th. I know we will have 2011 mustangs here before August. I don't know why the salesperson you were dealing with told you August.

| IF your sister buys a stang, once she has picked out the car she wants, before signing ANY PAPERS or putting any cash down, have the dealer place a garden hose on the right side of the windshield cowl and let it run for 20 minutes continously.
Check the right kick panel and carpet for any water leaking. There are shitty cowl grommets + seams without sealer that causes water to leak on the computer and soaking the carpet.
Ford has had 5 years to fix this with multiple TSB's but they still can't. In essense, they made a fish tank with wheels.

damn i'd say go for the 2011 model, it just seems like a better buy, plus the 4.0 vs 3.7 engine difference makes a significant difference i think

considering the strength of the dollar, has she considered going to the USA to buy one? That is if she can pay cash OTD? Duty free...
Might be cheaper

Lpauto.ca will handle all of the stuff if you're too lazy to deal with the paperwork (I am). She could get a 2011 Mustang GT for less than the 2010 here.
Also, I saw some used 2010 GT's on craigslist for about $28k a month or so ago.

I'll take a look at that as well. Could be worthwhile if she can get a 2011 quickly in the US.

+1 for LP Auto.. They were extremely helpful to me.. I talked to someone named Frank. Also, with the mustang being made in NA, and the super high CAD, you should definitely consider stateside.
