| Receiving Hotmail E-mail on Iphone
Hey Guys,
I know this topic has probably been answered before in some threads. Anyhow, I just recently switched from Black Berry to an Iphone, however my primay email is a Hotmail account.
Anyone can advise how to get Hotmail instant email alerts to my iphone, with Blackberry it was only about 5-10 min delay.
Thanks for your feedbacks!

I don't think Hotmail can push emails on the iphone. most likely the account is set to pull, and there's really nothing that you can do to change this. I think only Yahoo! can be set to push, or Gmail if you set it up as an Exchange account. the rest are all pull as far as I know. google some more info, I may be wrong.
my advice? create a Gmail account and have all your email forwarded to there, and set up push Gmail on the iphone. that's what I did and I get emails instantly.

^ I'm not sure what "pull" is but all I did was add my hotmail.com email to the default Mail client on the iPhone and set to push for my mail via the Settings. And I always get notified when there is new mail. Not sure how long the delay is since I've never really checked for that, but it seems to work for me just fine.

^ pull = fetch. If the account is set to fetch, the iPhone will only check for new mail at predetermined time intervals. Push allows you to get email instantly on your phone.
Best way to check what you have is to go into settings>mail contacts calendars>fetch new data>advanced. If the account has no option for push, then your email is being fetched, even if the push toggle switch is set to on. Posted via RS Mobile |

just download an app called MboxMail, it works very very well, uses push notification methods. It works extremely well and you get a notification on your iphone like a txt message within 1 minute of receiving the email, I just tested it right now.
nothing more to it, it's that simple, this is the highest rated email App in the AppStore, and for good reason.

^ I had been using that app for the longest time, since way before the mail app didnt support hotmail. I stopped using it cause it took forever to check for email, that bar up top, so it got annoying.

Honestly, using the regular mail app to pull/fetch works great for me. I've got it hooked up to my SFU mail and Hotmail, and it checks every 15 mins.

Oh one thing I liked about MBoxMail is the fact that you can sync your older "sent" emails. My hotmail account on the default mail app only shows "Inbox" and "Sent" and the sent ones were only ones I sent from my phone.
