making or customize mp3 ringtones?

Anyone know a free program that will allow me to cut a piece of mp3 from a song, so that i can use that piece for ringtone?

for example: i want the intro of a song that only lasts from :32 to 1:08,

How do I go about to edition mp3 so that i can save that piece as a file by itself without all the other part of the song.

Basically, cut a part of an mp3 to your liking.

Just crop out the part you want, and export it as an MP3. Make sure you have the LAME codec for Audacity installed.

Audacity ftw. Nice and easy to use too.

The LAME codec can be found easily on Google. The Audacity website might even have a link.

go to itunes, right click file > get info > options. find a part of the song you like, approx. 30 seconds or so and put in the time in: start time and end time. press ok

I *think* this should work b/c that's what I did to make iphone ringtones.

You missed the part where you have to convert it after. Right click on the songand press convert to mp3 once you choose your start time and end time.
