Help with my 1990 Integra tail lights

after starting the car, i turn on my lights and everything works like its suppose to including the tail lights.

when i go to drive, i release the EBrakes and my tail lights go out. when i turn the engine off, the lights come back on. so as long as the engine is off, the lights will stay on wether i release the ebrake or not

when i step on the brake pedel the lights come on regardless if the engine is on or off like it suppose to.

so the only time when the tail lights go off is when the engine is running and i release to ebrake to drive.. the only way to get the lights on again is to turn off the engine. even pulling the ebrake, it wont go on again. i have to shut off the engine first.

its is a big problem at night, its hard to see me if yoyr behind me.. during the day is no problem but i go work at night and need my tail lights

it cant be the bulb, i checked them to see if they are burnt out but its fine. plus they turn on but only when the ebrake is engaged.

any help asap would be greatly appreciated

i might think it has to do with the grounding wire for the tail lights but i dont know where its located..

sounds like the DRL relay. Not sure where it located on these integra's though. 9 times out of 10 you can repair them with a soldering iron

My guess would be the same as well. My factory service manual says it's located by the passenger side kickpanel (under the dash, near the door jam).

That plug isn't used. If it's like the Accords, it's a jumper for when you want to set the timing or check for codes.

Anyways, 90 and up cars have DRL. You need to get the circuit board that is inside the DRL relay case (you should only need a flathead screwdriver to pry the tabs and the thing should slide out). Then solder all the points on the backside of the board (there's quite a few).

This is a diy

Where do you live? I might have a DRL from an Integra already soldered (I fix quite a few Hondas and always stock up on stuff that die commonly). I can give you a good one in exchange for your old one plus a bit of cash on top.

If you look here in the circled part... theres a wire that goes down into the rear bumper..

On the driver side, there is no wire.. is there supposed to be a wire also? where the wire goes, i felt the rubber part but theres no hole to go through.

any idea?

Are you asking because you think it's related to the tails not working?? Or you just want to know if there's supposed to be a wire on both sides?

Those wires are only on the passenger side and they lead to the lights that light up the rear license plate on the bumper.

Hmm....not sure what to say about that. There really isn't anything that needs power outside by the bumpers except the license lights (unless I'm forgetting something...haven't worked on a Teg for a while).

the harness you posted is for the license plate lights. i think the wires you saw on the 93 may have been for power antenna. do you have a power antenna?

no. it's powered by the radio. if it's metal and looks factory, it's probably power.
however, the mast is notorious for getting stuck
