Does anyone know if there's a cold air intake/short ram intake for the 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i, it is naturally aspirated (non-turbo) and the only kits I can find are for the turbo wrx/STI models. I need something made specifically for it because there's a few sensors that are a pita to move, also there's a vent tube that connects at a strange angle so I'm kinda leaning towards mass produced and plug and play.

Dhillon09,
If you go into the naturally aspirated forum on NASIOC, and run a search for intake, you will find that the consensus is to do a hybrid intake for our cars ( my car is an 05 impreza RS) due to our MAF "integrated" into our intake.

Is this still applicable to the 2010? I noticed on the 2010 in the engine itself the MAF is in the same spot, as is the vent tube that hooks up below the throttle body.
Also, I'm assuming a simple CAI wouldn't void the warranty? The car's only 3 months old, I want the warranty to stay around for as long as possible.

I don't think they changed anything between the 2008-2010.... but don't quote me on that.
Better to just make a post on the NA forum on Nasioc. There is also a Vancouver Section.
Alot of the guys on there are helpful and knowledgeable, I am sure they can point you in the right direction.
CAI's shouldn't void your warranty.
BUT that depends on what the problem is, right?
If you drove through a large pool of water and the CAI sucks water up like a straw then it was the CAI that caused it. In this case, the warranty would be void. *Another reason why you do not want a CAI, we live in a god damn rainforest.
But if it was like your headlight that blew out after a couple months, the dealership cannot hang that problem on your CAI.
You get the idea.

Save your money and make the hybrid, cause I haven't yet lol.
I've got a SRI on my 2.5i, and as much as I love that engine sound, you eventually lose your low end torque, although increasing some mid-high end (which is absolutely useless in our cars). In these NA subies, you want torque.

Hey zordos, where'd you buy all your parts for the hybrid intake. (ie: rubber hose + clamps etc.)
I'm trying to see if I can use my SRI intake and extend it to the stock air filter box. Right now, it's short a few inches and I think I need extending couplers to attach em.
That, and I gotta stuff that big mother fuckin milk jug back into the fender lol

Hehe, i wouldn't mind doing this if you wanna "group buy" an ebay intake and we can split the shipping.
3" 4 ply blue couplers I got from Kinetic Motorsports in Langley/Port Kells. 10 bucks a piece and you really only need 2 as they're long enough you can cut it in half for installing the intake.
Various size hose clamps 3"s and a bunch of 3/8"s I got from Home Depot. I think it may be actually slightly cheaper at Lordco depending which one you go to anyways.
3" Exhaust piping with 45 degree bend I got form Lordco. Again pricing varies with them as all they had was one of those 3" U shaped pipes and I just hacked off what I needed.
The U bend ehaust piece was actually cheaper then that 45 degree bend I was quoted on originally so that's something to keep in mind.
KC - shipping is free in the US if you get it send to Pt. Roberts or something and just bring it back over yourself.

Sweet! I'm only doing this for the sound, so how big of a difference did you hear? And any performance increase? Thanks.
Would I see more power/noise if I did a K&N dropin with the cutup intake?
no sound change really since you're using the stock airbox. there is a slight acceleration increase in the mid/upper range. might just be the butt dyno.
I'll have to get my map updated so that should improve it.
If you want to use the same kit but make an SRI out of it then you'll have to find a maf adapter too.
So.. If I get that intake, it'll have a spot for my stock MAF, and the breather tubes that are a part of the stock intake right?
Also, from what I read, the SRI makes the MAF voltage to go wonky which makes the ECU make the car run RICHER under WOT from 1000-2500RPM, right?
This car is a highway cruiser (a shitload of trips on the coquihalla etc.) so that's not a biggy. As far as running rich goes, besides maybe some extra soot around the exhaust, and a hit in MPG, I don't really see any other adverse effects, anyone shed some light on this? If theres no real "bad" (ie: engine failure after prolonged use) side effects, I think I'll just pick up the one you linked me to
