Exchange in Europe - Suggestions on things to do?

Hey Revscene!

I'll be heading to Switzerland for a 6 week intensive French program, but I plan on doing a tour of Europe before my program begins in June. I understand that this is a very, very broad question, but I'd love to hear some suggestions for the top 'must do/see' things to do in Europe - more specifically in France, Germany (anything car related would be extra appreciated!), Amersterdam, Switzerland and Austria...and perhaps the Czech Republic. I hear good things about Prague. SO many things to do, but so little time!

France, must visit Paris...all the museums are there.

Germany, drink lots of beer, make sure you try out the different kinds of wursts there. I have a craving for German wursts, but nothing compares over here. Berlin is a terrific city to visit as well. There are "free" walking tours there that meets in the Brandenburg Tor (unless they've changed it).

One thing I always tell my friends...if you're going to Europe and heading to places like Germany or Austria, you MUST visit a concentration camp. Yes, it's pretty depressing, but to know history and the significance of those events is something that everyone should experience.

From what I understand, those free walking tours also exist in Amsterdam and might also exist in other countries. Mostly they are in the big cities.

Good luck, and have fun. Don't get too drunk ;)

Looks like I'll have to get over my fear of hot dogs, eh!

Thanks for the tippers, and yes, my liver will face difficult times ahead.

Tip for other travelers - I found this website really helpful: http://www.dopplr.com/place/it/milan
