| Sun Run times
Anyone else do the sun run? This year decided to start with the yellows for less traffic and it was a much easier race. Finished 51:43, a couple mins off last year.

Auugggh...i think this year, they placed the Sun Run on the worst day. Sure there were 60,000 registrants, but on mothers day, one week after the BMO too. Still sore from that event.

54:53.
first time doing sun run + no training + drinking night before for UFC + 5 hours of sleep.
i'm happy. but never doing it again. not worth waiting for each wave to start and spending close to an hour dodging and weaving people.
i'm sticking to anaerobic exercise.

Should have put your estimated time as 50 to 60 mins to start right at 9.
1:23 - no training and 5 mins off last year so I'm happy! Posted via RS Mobile |

i got a crapload of freebies at the end though. 1/2 lb of crappy protein, bunch of redbull and choco milk.

Good job guys, always wanted to get into running myself but every sport I played kept me from taking it seriously.

There are a few, but you'll have better luck googling them or just going to the flyer board in a local running room. You can even check out the runningroom.com site, but they only display the runs which they are involved with...which are quite a few. But i haven't found a site that has displayed ALL of them, just the races where each site finds affiliation to.
If you are looking for a run halfway through your sun run training, i would suggest the NB Fall Classic at UBC. I had a lot of fun there. They have a 5k, 10k and 1/2 Marathon distances. Good food, massage area, hot tub and sauna next door, nearby parking...etc. Not to mention it also comes with a nice tech shirt.
here are a few sites: www.runningroom.com http://www.canadarunningseries.com/ http://www.fallclassicrun.com/ |

I did the Sun Run for a couple of years and like most of you, I learned that it's a terrible event if you actually care about achieving a personal best. My best time in the Sun Run was 52 minutes and change. Running, as a sport, is enjoying its time in the sun right now, but the recent drop in Sun Run registrations (from a high in 2008) suggests that many newer runners (like myself) are seeing the light.
I've done the Turkey Trot in October that past couple of years and it's a great run. Flat, around False Creek, and great food. My personal best on that course was five minutes quicker than in the Sun Run and with far less training. I just did the BMO 8K and despite the rain, it was a lot of fun too with just less than 1000 runners.

My slowly-decaying knees, shins, and flat feet aren't designed for long-distance running.

How long have you've been running? | I know there's a bunch of 10k's in the fall. But that is probably too soon for you since your plan is to run some events next year.
I've stopped running for the past year. Trying to get back into it. From 2008-2009 I did a 10K, half, and full marathon.
