For people who dont' want Ethanol in their fuel

Saw a sticker at the Superstore on Lougheed that their Supreme grade has 0% ethanol.. which I assume they will be using some type of polyether amines.

Mugen EvOlutioN 05-13-2010 08:34 PM

cool

threezero 05-13-2010 09:07 PM

chevron 94 and nothing else.

XtC-604 05-13-2010 09:08 PM

all chevron Supreme (the red label one) has no ethanol.

crazyazn 05-13-2010 09:14 PM

These don't have ethanol for sure:

Chevron 94
Shell 91
Superstore 91

Anybody know about Esso? And Mohawk/Husky has it in all their gas right?

Phil@rise 05-13-2010 09:35 PM

call me dumb but whats the beef with a bit of ethanol?

hamhead 05-13-2010 09:45 PM

has less energy in it, so although cheaper u need to buy more to do the same about of work less gasoline can

hk20000 05-13-2010 10:46 PM

cool story bro.

Chevron supreme is also 0% ethanol.

When I'm paying that bullshit carbon tax I want to burn some fossil fuel, that's why it's important.

hchang 05-13-2010 10:48 PM

Do American gas stations like Arco, Texaco have Ethanol in their gasoline?

skylinergtr 05-13-2010 10:54 PM

i've noticed with using 89 octane gas that gasoline from chevron has lasted me a lot longer than gasoline from shell. Also there is a article from NGK about changing the spark plug gaps a little bit to do with ethanol fuel since its basically at every station now. So no regular fuel with no ethanol these days? i used to think petro canada was no ethanol for not having a stand out sticker until you look at the side of the pump..

moomooCow 05-13-2010 10:58 PM

Oh what?? Chevron 94 has no ethanol?? I could have sworn all their pumps had that ethanol sticker on it! Hahah... though it was only Shell 91 that doesn't have it!

k3lv 05-13-2010 11:04 PM

^ Chevron 94 specifically says no Ethanol. I see the sticker every time I fill up my car and bike

simsimi1004 05-13-2010 11:12 PM

i have never been to an esso but every other station i go to, usualy their supereme stuff is 0% ethanol.

bcrdukes 05-13-2010 11:42 PM

Ethanol made my Vespas do nothing but run like a craptastic chunk of sheet metal and rot its seals.

Shun Izaki 05-14-2010 01:35 AM

ethanol slowly eats rubber seals and gunks up your fuel system because of it...

slammer111 05-14-2010 01:54 AM

Not everyone needs a ton of power. For those who drive like grannies (such as myself) and don't need Chevron 94, there's nothing wrong with E85.

I'm too lazy to look up the specs on energy content per L or whatever but interestingly enough my mileage didn't seem to change at all when I swapped between E85 and regular gasoline in an experiment a while back. Most modern cars are designed to take E85 without dying anyways, so only older cars would have issues with hardening seals and gaskets. If you always drive your car like it's stolen then maybe it'll make a difference, but I wouldn't know.

**EDIT** the fuel I used for my experiment was E10 (ie Mohawk), not E85. Oops. With that said, I'd assume all modern vehicles (say 2005+) can handle E10 without any problems. The government isn't going to release something that has the potential to destroy 1/3 of the cars on the road after a couple of tanks.

hk20000 05-14-2010 01:55 AM

^ Our gas is NOWHERE nearly E85

maybe E10....MAX

And if you drive a normal car on E85 you are gonna fuck it right up, E85 has completely different stoichiometric ratio hence a custom tuning or a "Flexfuel" system has to be developed to run it. Traditional fuel lines not designed for E85 also rapidly fail if subjected to E85.

E10 is not potent enough to damage gaskets and seals...

I think maybe only a few do. I know Arco will as they have been putting ethanol in their fuels for a long time already.

When I went to Pt. Roberts to fill up, I asked the lady at the Chevron if their Supreme (92) gasoline contained ethanol. She said no.

Even over 10 or more years?

NNT 05-14-2010 09:13 AM

All gas station's top gasoline dont have to add ethanol, so Chevon 94 Shell 91 etc... are have no ethanol.

You should be replacing all the gaskets and rubber lines every few years anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue. It'll only be a problem on older cars where proper maintenance hasn't been completed.

i think i was at cheveron regular gas says it may contain upto 10% ethanol, it wasnt like that before. whats up with that

Thats what I was thinkin
Yes Ethanol has about half the BTU's of regular gas but with such a small percentage usually a max of 10% by volume the difference in fuel mileage or power would be negligible in a modern car.

OTG-ZR2 05-14-2010 09:55 AM

Personaly, I like using ethanol blended fuels Iv been filling at husky/mohawk for a few years now. I feel it keeps my motor cleaner vs other brand fuels. Except in my dirtbike, that gets Chevron premium!

76 had a label on the pumps saying all fuels may contain up to 10 % ethanol.
