Those seems right. How far off are the messages?

Fuhrėr-Z 08-10-2010 02:09 PM

Yeah I ordered the skin, it covers the entire phone with 3m like material. Cost $10, little more than what skinnypup got.

Connect stores won't sell you the phone, you gotta try bestbuy or futureshop.

I'm gonna have to root the phone soon I suppose. When telus gets 2.2 it won't work on our phones I'm guessing eh?

c3m 08-10-2010 02:18 PM

Where did you order the protectors BaconNbread?

Tim Budong 08-10-2010 02:24 PM

once u root the phone, theres no point in goin back to stock roms

hongy 08-10-2010 02:32 PM

I went ahead and bought a screen protector for the phone first, going to order the best skins ever after you get yours. As for my texts they're about 4-5 hours behind? which makes my message box filled on the bottom with my text and then I have to scroll up to find the latest text I got from someone.

That's weird.. did you flash some other ROM?

hongy 08-10-2010 02:39 PM

Nope haven't done any flashing yet, reading up on it atm. Whats the radio though can't seem to find out what that is. I talked to the guy at phonemore when I was getting my screen protector and he said the time thing seems pretty common on phones that aren't from fido/rogers but then use their network. Not sure if that's true or not though

Futureshop wouldn't sell it to my friend. Gave him the same excuse. I just went and ordered from the Telus website. Order went through without any hassle. $503.99 free shipping.

Rooted phones don't get OTA updates. Just hop onto XDA and grab some of the many available 2.2 ROMS and flash em. I'd avoid the OTA update completely. It includes a locked bootloader that has not been cracked yet.

Strange. I've only had that issue for phones that are not from NA. Anything I've gotten locally I've never had that problem. Maybe someone else in this thread could see if they have the same problem.

Edit: I found the following fix on RFD:

Anyone else getting the same problem?
Yes, it's a problem with Android phones on Rogers. Go to the Market and download SMSTimeFix and adjust it for your timezone. It'll fix the problem. I don't know if Android v2.2 fixes things or not, but the timefix works fine for now.

PS forgot to mention that my unlock code from CellUnlock.net worked fine. It does have to be entered twice in a row, but it works.

hongy 08-10-2010 03:00 PM

Okay new problem, i won't get any notification of a new text, not sure if this is because of the timestamp problem. Nvm fixed itself once I installed sms time fix, and you have to search for it with the spaces between the words or nothing will show up.

Beautiful ill try that when I get home. Anyone have any issues with 2.2? I've heard that the fm radio stops working properly.

!MiKrofT 08-10-2010 03:44 PM

I'm willing to sacrifice FM radio for the speed of 2.2 hehe.

c3m 08-10-2010 09:29 PM

which rom are you guys using?

!MiKrofT 08-11-2010 07:43 AM

lol. Scared me. I received an email from Telus telling me to call them to confirm my order. Thought they were going to verify if I was a Telus customer. Turns out they just wanted to verify my cc address. Pretty lame though since I had to stay on hold for like 40min. at 8am grr.

Tim Budong 08-11-2010 10:07 AM

Stock Roms FTL
Dev Roms FTW

!MiKrofT 08-11-2010 12:08 PM

Do you Nexus One guys notice that your grey's are kinda pinkish and hard to view outdoors? Due to amoled/pentile screen tech? The new Desire's use the SuperLCD which is supposed to be better.. and that Samsung has a shortage on amoled.

This is mind blowing
HTC Desire picture/video quality improves by removing the back cover or remove the lens cover from the back plate.

TheNewGirl 08-11-2010 02:03 PM

We just got them in here at my store. I can't wait to play with it! Review forthcoming!

Instead of removing it, you could just wipe it. It collects fingerprints easily, so you should always make sure to wipe it before taking pics.

I just did using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750888

I used Leedroid 1.8a

I got into a looping android / leedroid start up screen when it's booting so I had to pull the battery and get into Recovery and clear storage and then it reboots into leedroid. I have yet to see the power of custom rom yet.

I might try a stock froyo + sense in a few days
