Are you using Mac or Windows hongy?

Check this link out for Windows

If done correctly, unrevoked will automatically do its thing to root the phone.

Anyone having problems with time stamps? Everytime I receive a text message its showing up 4 hours behind. (Sending is ok though)

Tim Budong 08-14-2010 04:16 PM

FYI, google voice search isn't fully compatible with the desire. due to HTC's own phone/message/alarm system

Read up a few posts. I posted a solution and Hongy's confirmed that it works.

Yeah I'm on a windows machine. What will happen is that the phone will enter the hboot screen, and unrevoked will stay on waiting for bootloader; make sure the drivers are installed! screen. I'm thinking at this point i'm missing a driver, but i've kept the htc driver well deleting htc sync so I"m not exactly sure what it is i'm doing wrong.

Okay this time a driver install for android 1.0 came up but i can't install it, google led me to android sdk which i then installed but still nothing.

c3m 08-16-2010 03:02 PM

do you have access to a linux or a mac?
if you do try rooting it from it because it is simply plug and play for them.

!MiKrofT 08-16-2010 10:27 PM

Got my desire today. Man is it ever fast comparedto my MOTO milestone. Got my unlock code in 5min. Next root and froyo.

After/If i get froyo to work I might keep or just trade for a nexus one. C3M you're running leedroid right? I'm running v1.8c and it's incredibly slow.

c3m 08-17-2010 07:52 AM

yeah i'm using the 1.8c right now
I haven't see any lag on mine yet
but then i don't do much other than mail, message, and browse

Fuhrėr-Z 08-17-2010 10:41 AM

Hey, I got an extra bestskinsever skin, I don't need it so, if anyone's interested $10 and it's yours. I bought it for $10.24, after shipping...
these skins are really high quality.

Why would u bother trading? It's more or less the same phone.

they are pretty much the same phone. just one has real buttons. Personally I'd get the desire but I think the look of the nexus one looks better and it has some better accessories (car dock/desktop dock).

!MiKrofT 08-17-2010 11:32 AM

Desire has a desktop dock. Not official HTC but a dock nonetheless. For me a car dock is useless so no biggie. Not to mention most Nexus ones are fetching for almost $600 used than a $500 brand new Desire.

I like the look of the nexus one more, and for me trackball> Trackdot thing. However since I finally got the whole custom rom to work and now on 2.2 I most likely will not be changing to a nexus.

Yeah the lag was only there for the first 5minutes or so, when it was asking me if i want htc sense or launcher when you first boot up the phone and it caused massive lag.

!MiKrofT 08-17-2010 11:55 AM

Actually the trackball/optical joystick is a total waste to me. I think of it more as an annoyance than being useful. Now if it actually moved a mouse cursor or something on the screen then it'd be useful.

hongy 08-17-2010 11:58 AM

Really? I use it a lot when sending email/text. What keyboard are you guys using? I don't like qwerty and was therefore stuck with the t9 phonepad that came with the desire and i liked it for having a question mark readily available. Now my phone is using what i assume is stock android phonepad and i have to go through a list just to get a question mark. and no chinese input wtf.

!MiKrofT 08-17-2010 12:32 PM

HTC IME is what I use the most. Swype isn't bad either but it's not for me.

SkinnyPupp 08-17-2010 07:30 PM

If you don't like Qwerty, but don't want to use something as archaic as T9, try TouchPal, which has its own version of T9 that is perfect for the screen size of these phones.

It's from China, but does English perfectly well.

!MiKrofT 08-18-2010 08:40 AM

Rooted phone and updated radio rom and loaded leedroid 1.8c. It's just too easy haha.

c3m 08-18-2010 10:12 AM

leedroid 1.9 is coming out later today

!MiKrofT 08-18-2010 01:33 PM

Hmm I just flashed last night. I don't think I'll bother unless there's some significant changes/bugfixes.

hongy 08-20-2010 01:21 AM

any of you guys have an app or setting where you cab set an auto start up time? my alarm doesn't go off since my phone is off at night.

Just leave your phone on then
