Yeah I just leave my phone on. I use it unplugged the entire day and plug it in when I goto sleep.

SkinnyPupp 08-20-2010 08:16 PM

Yeah I don't understand the whole "app to turn your phone on at a certain time" thing. How would that even be possible? When your phone is off, it's off. That's why they call it off.

Just set the alarm and leave it on. If you're worried about the battery dying, set it to airplane mode. When I leave my Desire on overnight with airplane mode on, it has about 70% battery left in the morning.

Strzelec 08-20-2010 09:07 PM

Well its a feature they have on blackberrys. My battery could go for a couple days as i had it turn off at midnight and turn back on at 7 automatically. I see it as a useful feature not only to save battery if you're not charging, but it also keeps from waking you up with email or something. Yeah i know you can just put the ringer to off, but its one less thing to think about.

!MiKrofT 08-21-2010 12:35 AM

I use settings profile to manage all my alerts and auto syncing. As well my push mail is all scheduled not to alert me at night. I've never turned off any of my phones in the past 5 years. Just in case in important call comes in or something.

On a side note the Desire battery life is pretty damn good. Unplugged at 10am and it still has 58% charge.

its a feature that i've had on every single one of my phones. You can set a time for when the phone turns on, and set a time for it to automatically shut off.

just got this phone on Friday from the BB on cambie. I'm finding it hard to put the phone down. I just feel like I wanna use it even if it's just to browse the apps lol. this is my first Android phone. I'm coming from a 3GS and a Blackberry. never thought the change would be this drastic. it's unbelievable how boring iOS looks besides Android with HTC Sense, not to mention the BB OS. still though, I'm thinking now whether I should've waited for the Galaxy S to come to Rogers. played with the Bell one at Best Buy. the screen and speed were both unbelievable.

!MiKrofT 08-22-2010 08:32 PM

The speed of the Desire is no slouch either. As well HTC Sense is so well done. I was gonna nuke it and put a clean android rom but now I'm using aftermarket rom with Sense.

!MiKrofT 08-24-2010 11:36 AM

Now running Leedroid 1.9a. Enabled the new interactive cpu governer as well as added 245mhz setting when screen is set to off with setcpu. Also flashed latest radio rom that was released recently. Let's see how much battery life I get now :)

Just applied the bestskinever onto my desire, so far I don't like how the phone is no longer smooth and when you hold it there are edges. Will see if it feels better later.

Another downside is that using the opticalpoint is no longer comfortable.

!MiKrofT 08-24-2010 03:44 PM

I've ordered the CaseMate Barely There case and an Exim screen protector. I never did like those full body shields very much.

c3m 08-24-2010 05:48 PM

^ what color did you get for the case?
The black one is out of stock :(

!MiKrofT 08-24-2010 08:31 PM

Black lol. Ordered from eBay. Although I'm tempted to get one of these as well:

0.2mm. Now that's a thin hard case. Should be like the incipio feather. 3.99 can't go wrong.

!MiKrofT 08-24-2010 08:32 PM

55% left on the battery. Uptime 12 hours with 1 push and 3 fetch accounts. As well as 3 hours of MSN via Ebuddy. This is awesome.

hongy 08-25-2010 12:42 AM

Hey !MiKrofT tell me how the case goes, I'm not a fan of cases because I don't like the feeling of the separation of the case and the phone. I might just pay someone to wrap my phone for me because right now the bestskinever doesn't cover everything.

!MiKrofT 08-25-2010 10:29 PM

Sure. It should arrive in about a week.

hongy 08-25-2010 11:35 PM

Right, any of you guys getting issues with the phone in terms of calls/texts. My girlfriend is on telus and she doesn't receive roughly 1/3 of my text messages. Some she will receive late (ranging from 15mins~few hours after i send them) others she just will never receive unless i send twice. Also calls towards her will drop once in awhile. I've also tried this with other people from telus and the same thing happens. However this issue only affects people from telus. I have a coworker who says he has the same issues and i believe it is with people on telus as well. This is a huge bummer for me since well the person i am trying to keep in contact with is my girlfriend and i can't really do that at the moment.

Since you've already confirmed its a TELUS issue, why do you still think its the phone? I remember having this exact same problem with my friends on TELUS years ago. Luckily they all either switched providers now or got dataplans+smartphone, so I just IM them.

Friends wouldn't let friends use Telus..

!MiKrofT 08-26-2010 05:53 PM

I got my case. Thickness is great. Quality and feel are very good. Even comes with a cleaning cloth and screen protectors. Pretty fast shipping from UK. It doesn't protect the whole phone but being minimal is my main goal.

!MikrofT can you take some pictures of the case snapped on to the phone?

!MiKrofT 08-26-2010 07:34 PM

I'll take some pics later. The screen protector it comes with is soso. It has this weird rainbow reflection in light. Sorta like how oil looks when added to water. Good thing I have an exim coming.

!MiKrofT 08-27-2010 03:03 PM

Hopefully my Exim won't have that problem.
