HTC Desire

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7799089_n.jpg

Yeaaaa I finally got my hTc Desire...

Overall Comments:

i had used quite alot of android's, overall this is the fastest one i ever used, including nexus one...maybe is the HTC sense that makes the different? i dont know..

browsing the internet faster then iphone, can view flash and html5, mulit-touch and optical trackpad just awsomes for people who always browse the web

camera is OK i can said 5.0 with flash.. what can u expect right? if you want better pictures, get yourself a cannon 550D or 7D. but for snapping pictures and uploading to facebook are perfect.

bad side

little bit too big for some ladies want to use android. another choice will be hTc Legend. smaller and little bit slower, but does everything the same.

Overall is a good phone... if anyone of you want to change to android, this is one of your options, maybe you will said x10 are better, but X10 is running 1.6 only.. not 2.1, sony claim that they will have a 2.1 version coming, but there is no timeline when it will be release to end users.. :)

This does't have 850mhz 3G right?

SE3P-T 05-14-2010 09:02 PM

only 900/2100

RR33 05-14-2010 09:09 PM

u can view flash site on 2.1? really?

i thought only the upcoming 2.2 froyo can do that.

trd2343 05-14-2010 10:25 PM

Rumor has it that Telus would be bringing a new phone called HTC Triumph, supposedly a HTC Desire with NA 3G band.

I ordered this phone 2 weeks ago, still waiting for it to be shipped. I have played around with one at the store though, the speed is impressive. This will be my first Android phone after using Windows Mobile for over 8 years.

The only people who would buy an X10 are ignorant fools and Japanese people :lol

apparently, the HTC Desire has basic flash support out of the box.

SkinnyPupp 05-14-2010 11:20 PM

^^^ He calls the flash performance "definitely good enough"

I disagree

SE3P-T 05-15-2010 05:42 AM

about the flash right... i said is good enough for browsing online.. but gaming wise... i dont really think so, if you want to play facebook apps and others... go get yourself a netbook i would said...

!MiKrofT 05-21-2010 09:55 AM

HTC Triumph. Can't wait.

SkinnyPupp 05-21-2010 06:42 PM

Been using this phone for 3 full days now... Just wow.

This shows that sometimes it's better to leave your comfort zone once in a while, and try something new. I knew the phone would be better than what I had, but I had no idea it would be by this much. Literally EVERYTHING is better. Every single app that does a similar task does it better. Sometimes significantly. Gmail with multiple accounts and sync is still quite impressive to me, even though I've been into 'tech' for over a decade. I switched from Outlook completely now, using Google Calendar and Contacts. I don't even need to sync my phone anymore using a cable. It's all there in the cloud...

I still have to get used to the capacitive screen, and I was so used to the keyboard app I had been using... They are working on an Android version though, so looking forward to that.

What I'd really like to know is how's the exchange support in android. I need it work work. You guys probably don't use exchange.

SkinnyPupp 05-22-2010 04:31 AM

Nope, I do not. I heard something about it only supporting one server or something.. Not sure, but I recall someone on facebook bitching about it :)

J____ 05-22-2010 12:08 PM

how much is the desire?
soo does 900/2100 mean it'll work with 1700/2100 ?
what network r u on now

!MiKrofT 05-22-2010 03:30 PM

Just wait for the Telus Triumph. Same phone but with 3G 850.

SkinnyPupp 05-22-2010 06:00 PM

I'm pretty sure 900/2100 means it will work on the Mobilicity 2100 network.

SkinnyPupp 05-22-2010 08:03 PM

BTW the Australian Desire (Telstra branded) is out now, and will work on 850 MHz networks... Costs about $630 with shipping on Ebay from this seller (you can make an offer too)

Iceman_2K 05-23-2010 10:36 AM

how is the multimedia playback and support on the phone?

!MiKrofT 05-23-2010 12:31 PM

Buying phones from Australia isn't worth it. They're usually really overpriced.

That's a $200 premium over the X10 over here. Plus there's no warranty so if it ever breaks, you're SOL.

It's too bad, because the Desire is everything I want in a phone. I just don't know if Sense UI, multitouch, more RAM, trackpad, and newer firmware are worth the 30% price jump + no insurance. Plus it only comes in that ugly shade of brown. :lol

hmmm i bought mine in hk for around $600 CAD after some bargaining with a few stores. That was 2 weeks ago so it'll probably be cheaper now =/.
btw, download swype =). Best keyboard i have ever used ;).

It's true. Just look at past phones... HTC HD, HTC HD2. People charge more since they're only available with 850 there and its a cash grab for a lot of Australian sellers to mark them up. It'd be cheaper to just wait and buy the Telus one.

The whole reason I posted that is because there are phones going on Ebay for a totally reasonable price. I even linked to one.. But for some reason people keep replying saying that Australian phones are too expensive... wtf :lol
