the green pin is where the Compustar Drone thinks the vehicle is, the RED arrow is where the car actually is.

I had to Blurr out the name on the account and the address, but it actually gives you an address and if you notice it uses google earth mapping as the background not just background colors and such!

i havent got it...YET

next month

im really confused as to go with the x10 or Iphone 4

as far as im concern, i guess x10 will never come close to iphone in terms of software application.

But I4 has couple issues after i read up on it

ughhh the dilemma

G-spec 06-25-2010 01:47 PM

^ just go with the iPhone bro, I've had all types of phones, some hundreds more expensive than a brand new top model iPhone, and the iPhone by far is the simplest and easiest to use.
And I resisted for a long time in getting an iPhone cuz I didn't wanna blend in with everyone else, but a short while after I got it I realized what I been missin, I highly doubt I will ever switch to another phone again.

Mugen EvOlutioN 06-25-2010 03:32 PM

^

i guess i got no choice eh?

i was super excited when X10 was gonna be introduced to the market, but disappointment came real quick after couple weeks of user review.

Hopefully the flaws on the I4 right now would be fixed with update fairly soon

:(

gotta blend in is the part thats shitty. EVERYONE has a Iphone, and i mean everyone. ughhhh

Drone looks good! I think its time to place an order!

TypeRNammer 06-27-2010 12:22 AM

With drone coming out, it's a good chance for me to rip out the Alpine alarm that came with my car LOL

orgasm_donor 06-28-2010 11:08 AM

I was talking to the DRONE supplier yesterday and it looks like we're in line to get it this summer....don't have a date yet as it is still being tested.

Pretty excited though!

Thats was a cel phone 'lock' is for. And they gotta find your car.

G-spec 09-03-2010 09:35 PM

this is on my list, will be picking it up soon as I get around to finishing my car

turbo_slug 09-07-2010 02:32 PM

does drone tracking rely on gps only or does it have a-gps?

the reason i ask is because if it relies solely on gps for tracking, what happens if the car is under ground? will drone still be able to determine the location? if it uses a-gps, drone would at least be able to provide an approximate location.

It uses GPS & cellphone technology. whenever mine goes underground, I can see where it entered. I can then see when & where it exits too.

What did you mean by A-GPS ??

Most gps tracking systems will these this technology. Software will always show the last point the vehicle is seen just like Keith mentioned... Line of sight for location, and GSM for communications.

a-gps is assisted gps. basically, the unit will use cellular data to assist the gps receiver in determining the location.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS

anyway, i like the drone mobile device but it can be easily defeated if it it relies on gps signals alone...

but what happens if the gps signals are blocked? can it still rely on the cellular network to provide an approximate location?

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-26-2010 08:55 AM

how many ppl actually got this unit?

im still debating to shell out $500 ish or not

ugh

spyker 10-26-2010 03:17 PM

My brother in law has the Drone unit,it's really impressive, but costly.I think it's only worth it if you have a really expensive car or a highly modded car that you don't want anything happening to it and want to know what's going on with it at all times.

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-26-2010 04:03 PM

but say if you go underground parkade (metrotown for example)

you wont know until the car leaves the premises correct?
