city fido renewal
 

i have the city fido with no system access fee.. fido is saying if i don't renew a Contract, the bill will go up 5$ a month on a month to month.

i don't want or need any of the shit phones they give me for free.. i don't want a iphone/berry.. and if i did want to get one of those i would have to sign up for a data plan.



my question is... what is the best of the shit phones they have for sale at fido... maybe for resale?

how much fido $$ and how much they offer you when u sign a contract?
if it is over 100$, then would get like 200-300 phone and sell back on ebay/craiglist

i have 96 fido dollars, and i have never heard of them offer anything to sign a contract...

i got the same notice, i was paying $45 city fido +$6 for caller ID +tax. Got a 'rep' calling me saying if i dont sign in a contract my plan will go up to $50 +$6 for caller ID. I pretended like 'oh no' what to do, i dont want a contract. She told me it was the best deal out there and i should lock in a contract before it goes up, I then drop the bomb and tell her wind has better plans for $35 and im going to cancel. She then said oh ok, call customer retentions and hung up haha. I then called in and said im moving to wind, i got $40 for unlimited local calling anywhere in canada, 2500 text, caller id, voicemail, no saf, no contract. They're trying to do last grab of forcing unsuspecting people into contracts that dont know about wind before they launch.

well.. i never even heard of wind.. i did some research and i don't think they are offering services to vancouver yet..

so what you did was said you wanted to cancel.. and she hung up?
you then called them back to cancel and you got through to customer retention and they gave you a better deal with no contract?

i don't want to be stuck in a contract for this exact reason.. i know there is competition coming to canada and i don't wanna be stuck with fido.. i will pay the extra 5$ fuckit.

i called them and they werent all that interested in giving me a break... that was a month ago....


one other thing is... they have billed me 2 times now for the SAF and my contract doesn't have one.. i got in before they ever had one.. i have been watching my bill for that exact reason.. caught them today...

Winds coming mid june. I called 2 weeks ago and still got the deal. No contract watsover. If they BS and say you have to do a contract, tell them wind doesnt need contracts and have awesome deals.

The lady that hung up was just a normal sales rep trying to lock in contracts. They dont deal with cancellations so she told me to call retentions.

No matter what, it makes no sense to lock in a contract now since pretty much all companies offer plans without. Unless you specifically want to get an iphone at $199, you dont need a contract to get a 'good deal'. You'll be shooting yourself in the foot though even if you do want an iphone to lock in a contract because plans can only get cheaper from now on as Wind is coming next month and Mobilicity is coming end of the year with even better rates ($65 for unlim call, text, data). If you dont get the deal i got with 1 retentions agent, just hang up and try another one. Be polite though, dont be an ass when you talk to them, remember they have no obligation to offer you anything.

Initially they offered $50 for unlim voice and 2500text, then he dropped the rate to $45 for voice,text,callid, voicemail. I finally asked for $40 for all those saying It's comparable to what i can get at wind, and got it. I tried to get them to throw in an Iphone without contract but didnt work.

i am glad i made this post cause i would have shot myself in the foot by getting a garbage phone on a contract..

did it anyways
flipped the phone

this is a plan im willing to keep for 3yrs anwyays

mobilicity has that for $65 :D
