Ever watched a movie that was much MUCH better than expected? Which was it? I'm looking for gems of movies that people don't really know about. Try not to spoiler the movie, but rather say what made it so unexpected.
One movie that I thought was going to suck but turned out really good was this:
The action and story was pretty well done... one of Christian Bale's lesser know movies.
Another one was Cube 1 & 2, (Cube 2 expecially). For such a simple plot it was rather entertaining throughout the entire duration of the movie.
Invisible sky daddies commanding people to do shit is just so beyond retarded, I feel like punching myself in the balls until I shit my computer chair.

Finder's Fee was a pretty sweet movie. The entire movie is based out of an apartment suite. Randomly picked it out one day at Blockbuster and it was shockingly good.

i want to mention the Road because not many people have seen it, it was much better than i expected, probably the best movie i've seen this year
Miller's Crossing is another one that is a hidden gem, but it's getting a lot more attention
Fresh, i love movies about drug pushers, especially if it takes place in NY or LA, this one actually has a decent storyline, characters with depth and some comedic scenes thrown in
Everything you wanted to know about sex, a Woody Allen film consisting of a series of vignettes addressing questions about sex, funnier than any comedy i've seen since 40 year old virgin imo

this is an old movie but not many ppl have seen it / heard about it this side of the pond
Gangster No1 (Paul Bettany shows why he's an under rated actor)
it's out on blu-ray too (region b but if your gonna download it)
The Business
another british gangster movie, its very good, very realistic (also out on Blu-Ray Region B)
Sexy Beast another british gangster movie lol
It's low budget and kind of boring @ times but Ben Kingsley WOW... he really shines (also out on blu-ray region B but for downloads)
what's so bad about equilibrium? i was a little disappointed at the plot but bale still put up a great performance..and the action was enjoyable.
hidden gem for me is better luck tomorrow
yes it was an mtv film...yes it was directed by an amatuer director...but the cast did a great job ..i was hoping it was based off a true story.

couldnt say i cared for the movie. john cho being a pimp was a really hard sell.
if you can look past cho's performance..many asian boys that grew up in a western society can appreciate the film imo
oh and accordingly to wki

The film was based loosely on the murder of Stuart Tay by four Sunny Hills High School honor students on December 31, 1992, in the suburb of Fullerton, California.
and i think 5th element & usual suspects are pretty big titles...not so much hidden gems

My girlfriend's next period should be any day now, maybe I can drug her into letting me near her vagina. Apparently Nyquil fucks her up really good.

100 Girls. Not a great movie, but it was surprisingly decent.
Wristcutters: A Love Story. Randomly selected it from a movie store one day and loved it. It's a dark comedy that obviously wasn't a big budget production, but it still managed to draw me into everything going on.
Friday: Saw a funny clip posted on another board I go to. Downloaded it thinking it was going to suck otherwise because I knew NOTHING about the movie, but it was pretty damn funny the whole way through. too bad the sequels sucked ass.
