Best illustration of function over form.

I just think it's form over function because they are stretching narrow tires over wide wheels to achieve a look.

While the function purists will want the properly sized tires for the application to maximize cornering grip.

Oh well what do I know.

Nice pics otherwise.

function over form as as in :
a car that can function and perform well over a car with ridiculous wheels, ride height and camber for looks, form.

He's saying some of those cars looks ridiculous, thus function > form
maybe I am wrong and he actually means form>function

Am I missing something here? Those cars look like they have agressive stances... are you saying they don't perform anywhere close to how they look?... If so, why would anyone do that?

Taking the white accord that has to remove it's bumper to enter it's driveway as an example. Isn't that taking it too far just to have the "look"? The function of a driveable car is somewhat taken away. I know some of us who like to "slam" their car change the way they drive and where and where not to go. As said earlier in this thread, it is a lifestyle.

To some of us, vehicles are just a mode of transportation, others a hobby/sport as well as a lifestyle.

I think with HellaFlush, it has become a lifestyle.

I highly doubt some of those cars are "used" to their full potential to match their aggressive stances. But if they are, that would be awesome.

Mind you I do love the look but some are taking it too far.

What does the RS community think?

well you don't see those cars hitting track right? I honestly don't mind the looks, and I think they are pretty damn sexy except some retarded overdone ones. In terms of respect though, I have way more for those who take their cars to the track and drive to the fullest potential.

Lol good question I only use two screws and two plastic clips... Sometimes four but most of the time two, cause everytime I go to crystal mall, I either take my bumper off or I park outside

evolution of the car scene.
remember fast and furious?
went from that, to clean, to rusty body panels and "hellaflush"
People would probably look back in 10 years and laugh at the rusty body panels the same we laugh at the transformer body kits and big wings now.

Except people have been doing this for the past few decades, and it's only now getting popular.

yea japanese drifters really brought this over the top style to life and made it mainstream, they go hand in hand, and the day this style fades away is when drifting fades away, and I don't see that happening at all. There are full blown shows and professional leagues setup just for drifters.

and yea most of the guys in those photos don't drift, but some of them definitely do and aren't afraid to do so in 10k wheel setups, they also road race.

the Texas boys are really well known in the scene for going all out, drifting and road racing

Of course it's a fad. I give it less than two years before nobody's doing it anymore because someone's come up with something even sillier than putting on tires that are too narrow for the rims (or rims that are too wide for the tires, as the case may be).
