For the people that have the 9800 already, with that update did they remove that metal sound?

This is what makes me wonder about Berry; why are they going so expensive when every other company is cost-cutting for the end consumer? Having a less-good phone for more will not encourage people to switch to berry; convenience and epic win-ness of BBM be damned.

This kind of thing makes me worry for berry in the future. Berry will always have a niche in the security-encrypted cellphone business....but as a mainline consumer company? We'll see.

Blackberry has been playing catchup since the pearl
they succeeded on gaining market share, but failed to pump out good products. Or should i say, long lasting products

Picked up a Torch last night. Loving this phone a lot more then my Iphone 3g for sure. Typing is a lot easier now. If it wasn't for work I'd have everything set up already.

When I was in teh states, I played with several 9800s at different at&t locations. Ones that are on display but fully functional. All of those ones were nice and solid still, even though im sure they have been used and played with by a lot of people.

i've had it for 2 weeks now... the only problems i've had

1) i dont like how the tray always starts with "all"
2) my phone lagged for a bit once or twice but thats because i had whatsapp/bbm/msn all going at once..
3) battery life is currently at 2 days on EDGE with bbm usage all day
4) facebook contacts fucked up my own contact list.. had to manually delete stuff

Alpine: no one really goes online to rant and rave about "omg my phone is so fast, it does this, it does that" unless they're apple fanboys. for every displeased user there are probably 10 or 20 satisfied users. As you see, I've had problems with my phone, but it definitely isnt reasonable for me to return it and grab the latest iPhone.

Played with it in the states, i don't like the overall feel of the phone, it feels really plasticy, and i dun like the buttons, and not a big fan of the sliding mechanism neither. I'm gonna take a pass..

I've had mine for about a week and a half.

1) Why not just scroll and leave it on one of the other tray groupings like downloads or frequent?
2) Had the same thing happen, wasn't too noticeable though.
3) I'm getting about 2+ days on 3g, using bbm and txting quite a bit all day.
4) I see the facebook pics of my contacts, but they were already on my list. Did the contacts duplicate on yours?

1) i leave it at favourites, but after a while of using other programs, when i return to the home screen, it goes to ALL again.
2) i think my phone started lagging a lot more after i installed whatsapp
3) if i leave 3g on for a day, i'll get maximum 1 day of power. would it be a battery issue or phone issue?
4) facebook contacts resulted in duplicating my contact list, and when i tried to update with microsoft outlook it would keep fucking up. it wasnt until i deleted every contact with a facebook photo before it worked again.
