How do you install into itunes? What's a good site for ipas?

just becareful when you're using iTunes.. turn off automatically sync when you connect device to computer..

First thing you do to make sure it doesn't delete all the apps u've downloaded through installous and haven't made back up yet.. is to do this.

File --> "Transfer purchases from iPhone"

If you forget to do that step.. iTunes will sync your apps from your backup and REMOVE the ones you've downloaded and installed from Installous since your last backup

try to google for iphone forums.. they usually have newer releases than what you'll find from Installous

I just got my iphone 4 in the mail. 4.2 is out today, I want to install 4.1; is the only way through itunes and will it go to 4.2 automatically?

Or has there been a 4.2 jb already that is stable?

The Greenpois0n team said you HAVE TO HAVE YOUR SHSH BLOBS FROM 4.1 SAVED in order to get an UNTETHERED jailbreak with 4.2/4.2.1.

If you update to 4.2 you can still jailbreak it but it will be TETHERED meaning you have to connect the phone to a pc/mac every time you restart the phone.

How do you update apps? Do you have to download the whole updated app again?

Just did this and my 4.1 saved the following 3 SHSH files

iPhone4 4.1 (8B117)
iPhone4 4.2.1 (8C148)
iPhone4 4.2b3 (8C5115c)

I have an iPhone 3g that I just updated to 4.2 from 4.1. When it was on 4.1 it wasn't jailbroken. Can I still jailbreak it on 4.2 without it being tethered?

your phone should have 4.1 on it or lower. 4.2 will come on any phone shipped from the factory TODAY. yours would have been shipped a month ago.

goto Settings, general, about. and scroll down you should see what Firmware revision you have. its very unlikely the store will start updating all the in stock phones.

just make sure to NEVER update your phone's software thru iTunes.

still an iphone/apple noob, sorry if this is a repeated question which im pretty it is, but what do i do to unlock my iphone 4. the firmware is 4.1 and whats important that i do and dont do ?

Just have to be patient and wait for the unlock to be released for firmware 4.1 and up.

i just downloaded the PDF reader app and was wondering what is a good site to download ebooks and magazines. Apparently you can download it on your computer and then you can do a wifi sync to your phone. Any idea?

so if you backup your blobs or w/e you can ugrade to the new firmware, remain jailbroken, and not have to re-JB? or how does that work

No. Right now, greenpois0n is working on an update the to jb for 4.2.1. This will, however, still be tethered.

We will then have to wait for comex to come out with another userland patch that will make it UNtethered which apparently requires you to save your SHSH blobs.

A rule of thumb is never update anything until it's confirmed to be fully hacked.
