How recent did you get yours?

I got my 4.1 replaced @ the apple store 2 weeks ago and my 4.2.1 still used the phillips screws.

i got it about 2.5 weeks ago. not sure when they started replacing the screws with pentalobe ones but my friend who got his a few days after i got mine told me he had pentalobe screws on his too

just got mine today and it has the star screws


how do i get my contacts from the sim card to show up on the phone?

i already transfered them from my old phone to the new small sim card...just need to get them to show up on the iphone

go into settings and mail/contacts. Then click on import contacts from sim card.

Well, dropped my phone going into the Markham NCIX yesterday and spiderwebbed 3/4 of the screen. Drove over to one of the Apple stores, explained what happened (was prepared to pay for a new front screen, everything functioned properly still) and they gave me a new phone on the spot. I <3 Apple. You pay a premium but they do take care of you. Between this, a DOA shuffle, and a first gen MBA that I never could get to not overheat, my experiences with both technical support and customer service with them are better than any other company I've ever dealt with.

I'm jailbroken on firmware 4.1 right now. When the new jailbreak releases do i update to 4.2.1 then restore to a backup and jailbreak?
Does restoring to a backup restore my phone back down to 4.1

I'm planning on ordering a few items from SW-BOX, and I know a few you have already ordered from that website. It is a reliable company? If so, what kind of shipping options did you choose (they had a variety of different shipping companies).
DHL, Air Mail, EMS, UPS, or Fedex. Cheapest option would be Air Mail, but it says it'll take 10-30 days lol.

where can i find current info on unlocking my 3G?

all the stuff i search up is coming up regarding old firmwares, currnetly my 3G hasnt been updated in like 8 months so i could probably toss whatever firmware i needed onto it, but i cant find any relevant info on the unlock?

i just ordered a few days ago (i think it was tuesday? monday?) and i chose UPS as my shipping option. they chose to send it by dhl though, for whatever reason haha whatever. was tracking the package today and it said it arrived to the sorting facility here and left @ 10.11 am but i didn't receive anything today, so i've got to wait until monday for my stuff :(

anyway your shipping option really depends on how much you're buying and your own urgency. if you want to get your items asap like i did, then opt for UPS or DHL or something. it only cost ~$6 more for me to get it shipped via UPS versus air mail

and they seem reliable, but i can't speak for myself until my stuff gets here (in perfect condition)

others have seemed to have good experiences with them though

if you intend to be swapping your back plate often or generally "modding" your phone, go get those star screws swapped for phillips asap. an entire set on ebay is really cheap too (like $4-5 for a star screwdriver, phillips screwdriver and 2 phillips screws)

lol I ordered from sw-box and chose the cheapest shipping option... it says I purchased on the 17th, and for the parcel tracking it says 'The item was posted on 21-Jan-2011 and is being processed for delivery to the addressee.'

I have no idea how long it will take for the actual package to get delivered

sounds pretty much the same to me, minus camera thing. find my iphone is made by apple though, and free, like you said. also with find my iphone you can lock your phone with a passcode remotely, send a message to the screen or wipe it's data. i think fonehome's primary use is if you lose it under a stack of papers or something

Did anyone have problems with the battery expanding?? The glass on the back of my phone is coming off because of this.
