Crap, can't find an exact clear answer.. but, say I'm giving away my iPhone 3GS (16gb if it matters), currently on 4.0, 5.13.04 bb, what's the best way to reset all the information without bringing the baseband up? The phone will need to be unlocked as well. I have read through this: redmond pie link but it warned something about an unlock.. (Using a mac, if it helps!) Thanks in advance guys/gals. |
There's no real reason to upgrade to 4.2 from 4.1. There are essential features or major bug fixes so stick with 4.1 if you have the choice. Wait for 4.3 and the jailbreak. |

If 4.3 comes out, would i have to go 4.2 then 4.3? Or would it just be a one step upgrade? |
It should be a one step upgrade. That said, 4.2.1 JB took a long time before an untethered was released. I personally would recommend not upgrading to 4.2.1 if you dont have an iP4. I was forced to upgrade as I had to go in for some warranty work and I waited till a stable JB was release before exchanging. Find my iPhone is a neat feature, but chances are once it's stolen, if the thief isnt noob, he'll just turn that service off! 4.3 untethered JB may take a long time so it's up to you! i dont even know what 4.3 will have, but i dont think its gonna be worth getting. itll take a long time for untethered to come out, and by the time untethered will come out, the "iOS 5" and iphone 5 may be out already... |

^Isn't that just Wireless tethering? Posted via RS Mobile |
mywi works with 4.1? so is the wireless tethering a built in ability with 4.3? |
yup, it is a built in ability with 4.3, which is why its probably better to wait for 4.3 insteading of going to 4.2.x |
bout time they implement hotspot on the iOS. now the android doesn't have the advantage in that department. |

i have the 6 gig pack on my account, so the mywifi feature works well for me, my iPad, and my Macbook Pro. |

What are you guys using as a "kill switch" to end all apps running in the background? |
I just bring up the multi tasking menu and exit it all or reboot the phone. |

Allows you to toggle pretty much everything from bluetooth to airplane to ssh to killing apps. It's awesome because you can use it even when your phone is locked or if you're in the middle of a game. All it takes is a side swipe of the top of your screen to bring it up |
^ is that just the skull and cross bones processes? |

No you have to download Remove Background and then the Remove Background SBSettings Toggle |

You can manually choose to end programs or just use the "free up memory" function. It doesn't close everything though so I just manually do it. |
