I think for people who actually wants to unlock and change color of their iPhone, buying the new white one straight up isn't too bad of a deal.

My wife was looking to get her iPhone4 unlocked as she travels often lately. If the IMEI unlock ever comes back, that's $175 there. A high quality OEM white iPhone conversion kit will run you $150 from reputable sellers and you run the risk of having the proximity sensor problem when doing the conversion... etc.

I just sold my wife's iPhone 4 locked to Fido for 450. So, I spent 280 extra for the perfect color conversion, unlock guaranteed as it's factory, and a 0 hour phone. It made perfect sense just grabbing one from Apple.

edit: so i just restored my computer
i remember using ifunbox to extract all my music via ssh a few months ago
music is located in:
/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music

but when i open the folders i dont see my songs! where can i find my songs so i can put them onto my computer again? TIA if help is possible

Weird, it should work.

Try another program called iPhoneInterface.
Download Jailbreak and iPhoneInterface.
Open iPhoneInterface and you should be able to getfile /var/root/Library/Media/F* or something like that. Once you have all the files, put them in iTunes and it will rename the files to what they were before.

Step 1, download iPhoneBrowser from GoogleCode.

Step 2, install iPhoneBrowser

Step 3, connect iPod Touch

Step 3a, cancel iTunes synching process if it starts and you don’t want the library on the iPod Touch or iPhone changed

Step 4, launch iPhoneBrowser

In iPhoneBrowser navigate to "iTunes_Control/Music" then right click the Music folder and either select "Backup folder" or "Save Folder In" to select where you want the files saved to.



All those numbered folders contain your music but you won’t recognize any of the files because of the naming system that is used by all iPods. The files still contain the appropriate information and will be there when imported to your media player of choice; if you have AAC files then there is no choice and you’ll be using iTunes.

I don’t know where iPhoneBrowser saves files when you select the backup option, I never could find them so its best to go with the "Save Folder In" option and specify the directory, just pick one that’s to your liking; I used iTunes Music.

There is a downside to iPhoneBrowser and it’s not clear if it’s a Vista problem or just a problem with the program but while it’s transferring files from your iPod Touch or iPhone it will say "Not Responding" but is still working. It will remain in that state until the backup is finished.

If you havent gotten it to work yet with SSH, theres a program I use called MediaMonkey. Its like a media manager that allows you to extract music files off your iPhone. Give it a shot. =) It works perfectly for me, and much easier to use. It was an iTunes alternative for me when my iTunes started screwing up.

There's an app in the appstore called skyfire. It's a webbrowser that allows you to view flash files.
