You should have a factory restored phone once it's done. Book an appointment for the genius bar on the apple website @ the store of your choosing. Show up & explain the problem and you should be out of there with a brand new phone within 5 minutes.

I had the same issue and that's how long it took to get a new replacement.

Or you can just go to Settings --> General --> Reset ---> Erase All Content and Settings and it'll wipe your phone to stock.

I took my jailbroken phone in once for proximity sensor issues. We just tested the calling features and then he told me to do exactly what i said above and then gave me a new one.

do you have to book an appointment in order to get a replacement?

BlackZRoadster 08-22-2011 06:39 PM

can i just walk in for replacement, i went from 100% battery in morning to 18% by 5 o clock with random usage of net and facebook

Yes with the genius bar.

u can do it on their website it shows what times slots are open.

^^If you go in on a day that's not really busy, they can make an appointment for you 5-10 min after you speak to them.

They'll ask you a few questions then run a diagnostic test by plugging it into their mbp which will tell them if the battery is operating normally or not. Eight months ago, my friend got his replaced for bad battery life. Two months ago all they did for me was replace the battery.

I was jailbroken before I went for my latest Apple store visit... I had a feeling that they'd be as to why I would walk in with a freshly restored phone. They can have a hunch that it was jailbroken, but it's not like they can prove it or do anything about it. Nevertheless, I said that I restored it in hopes it would fix the problems I was having.

You can just say you restored it because you thought it would fix it or whatever.

The reason doesn't matter nor do they ask. Apple is very lenient about replacing phones and such. They have one of the best customer service out there.

Like I said, I walked in with my jailbroken phone and got it replaced.

I got my iPhone replaced yesterday for the home button issue but the guy I had was a serious prick and hard ass and kept telling me its a software issue. I had to push hard to get my replacement.

hey guys started having an issue with wifi on my iphone 4

it won't connect to my home network, never had this problem before, been using the phone for a good 9 months now

reset my router, reset my phone, nothing works. haven't been able to test if it can connect to other networks though. Sometimes it will connect to my router and I will get the bars at the top of the screen, but still no internet

any suggestions guys??

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting

EDawg 08-24-2011 07:40 PM

yep, tried that, still no internet. I can connect to my router though

also found a solution which involves deleting the first DNS address stored on the phone for your network, but that didn't work for me either :(

i've been having random issues where the "phone" portion of my ip4 is acting crazy....either won't load the phone section, or the screen goes black with weird white/shaded numbering, or freezes up etc

i'm running the original software that came with the phone... 4.2.1

thoughts?

DanHibiki 08-27-2011 05:46 PM

Hey guys. My power button is crapping out and I plan on going to Apple Store to get it replaced.

How do I ensure I'll get a new one and not a refurbished one?

Jailbroken? If not, update to the latest firmware (4.3.5)

If yes, try restarting springboard. If that fails, re-do your jailbreak. If that fails, update to the latest firmware and do an untethered jailbreak.

Sorry but your information is wrong.

There is no untethered jailbreak for 4.3.5. The highest version you can update to while maintaining an untethered jailbreak is 4.3.3.

Only if they have no referbs in stock which is highly unlikely.

New firmware should be fine if you never ever want to Jailbreak EVER. If you do choose to Jailbreak in the future, I'd stick with 4.3.3. I believe that's the last version with an untethered jailbreak.

What do you think a brand new Iphone 4 is going to be?

When the 5 comes out? Thinking of getting one for my dad.
(No data, he doesn't even want it.)

cho 09-01-2011 10:54 AM

when the 4 came out, the 3gs was still pretty expensive, let it ride for about half a year, probably dirt cheap like the 3gs now

im kinda a noob at this, it wont let me shift restore and gives me errors
