im kinda a noob at this, it wont let me shift restore and gives me errors

Nope. Now that 4.3.5 is out they stopped signing the older firmwares so if you wish to update, you are forced to update to the latest one.

went to apple today to try and get my iphone replaced

did the firmware update this morning

and told them my battery+reception was fucked(which it was)

all they told me was "since you updated your firmware this morning all the problems should be fixed"

wasted my time going down there for nothing fucken BS

the rep did tell me that he'll make a note that i came today and if the problem is still there in a few weeks i can come back and get a replacement ( i hope they dont hassle me even more when i do go back)

now the thing is i think the iphones you get in the white box are still brand new? and not refurbished? i wasent to sure what the guy was trying to explain to me something about all the parts were brand new except maybe a certain microchip/processors?

That's only if you have been on 4.3.3 and have your SHSH blobs saved already if I'm not mistaken.

Were you ever higher than 4.2.1?

I went there yesterday too to get my phone replaced (power button was messed). And they told me the same thing but I don't quite remember/understand exactly what they meant lol.

I think they said that when they put together refurbished ones they don't just replaced the broken parts but all the important components such as the screen and battery.

ninjai123 09-03-2011 02:58 PM

for those who wants to save battery on your iphone 4 get auto3g (Y)

shawn79 09-03-2011 03:34 PM

the white box product = everything on the outside is brand new but everything inside stays the same or fixed

VeeDubya 09-04-2011 10:12 PM

Went to the apple store today (Pacific Centre). Told the CSR that my home button was not working all the time (would take a couple presses sometimes to make it work). Checked my warrenty and told me he would give me a new one as a replacement!

not at the time. i wanted to try the hotspot feature on 4.3.3 so i upgraded it. i thought tinyumbrella did something different now and it doesn't pull the SHSH blobs from cydia?

can't wait. I'm upgrading from my 3g to this :)

daval 09-08-2011 02:29 PM

I just dropped my iphone4 last nite, and something is moving around inside the case.

I wonder if anyone has that Pentalobe (star/torx) screwdriver, so that i can open up the case and take a look?

Please let me know, thank you very much in advance.
David

Spartacus 09-09-2011 12:40 AM

Hey guys noob question here. Currently im using a black 4.1 ios jb'd iphone4 we'll call (a), I'm planning to upgrade to a 4.3.3 ios white iphone4 we'll call (b). Is there anyway to restore iphone (b) and load it up with iphone (a)'s backup? I'm mainly wanting to save All my jb apps and information. I remember reading that you can load up your back up to a different iphone.

ok so my phone is starting to act up even more dropping calls etc and i need my phone for work so this isn't good

what happens if i just take my phone in to the apple store in it's current 4.1 version? will they just tell me to upgrade the firmware and see how that works? or will they replace it without having to do that?

also, how do i back up all the info on my phone if i do have to get a new one? i see that syncing it gets all the apps to my computer? can i transfer them over to a new phone? what about pics? can i just copy them over?

I think it'll come down to what your "Genius" decides. Whenever I'm in the Apple Store just to browse, I ask them a question about my phone so they don't think I'm loitering. Lately, I've been told to do complete reset of my phone and not restore-from-backup as a solution to my problems. (Wifi, phone lagging, home button sometimes not working.) I'd imagine the same Geniuses who told me that would tell you to upgrade to 4.3.5. In any case, if you get a replacement, it will be loaded with 4.3.5.

When you plug in your phone to sync with iTunes, one of the first steps of sync'ing is creating a backup. (In the progress window, you can see that "Step 1/5" is "Backing up.") This backs up your photos and text messages, too. When you plug in a new iPhone, during the setup process you can select to restore it to a previously saved backup. Each backup file is named according to date/time so you know how old it is.
What I personally do with my contacts, as I've mentioned in this thread a few times already, is set it up with a GMail account. Read this post: http://www.revscene.net/forums/61678...ml#post7541374 That way, if I ever decide to do a complete restore not from a backup, my contacts won't be lost. I simply need to re-sync to my GMail account.

blkgsr 09-21-2011 07:51 AM

ok great thanks.....how many contacts can my sim card hold? can i not just copy all contacts to my sim card? (i'm on rogers)
