It's like 100$ on Craigslist. Might as well change the color to red or something since you're paying for it to be done.

I have noticed battery life has gone down, but it is most likely because of all the messaging I've been doing, and notifications that I have enabled for notification center.

As for lag, I find that it is the same, if not slightly smoother.

It's that price if you go to apple, but if you get it done by some asian stores ie rs sponsor its around 70$ after all said and done. my mom got hers cracked recently and replaced it

G 11-08-2011 01:57 PM

I would take my chances at Apple. If they say no, then you can try another store, and if they really aren't in a good mood then go to other companies to fix it :p

wreck 11-08-2011 01:58 PM

cant believe they are still going for $400 on CL.

i wanna buy one outright, anyone know a place?

shawn79 11-09-2011 02:40 AM

they offered me a most likely refurbished iphone 4 for $169 plus tax

instead of just replacing the glass

dunno if i shud take up on the offer

skholla 11-13-2011 07:58 AM

That's a good offer. Will you be able to get your glass replaced for less?

There's nothing wrong with refurbished when it comes to iPhones. I really dont understand why it has such a bad stigma.

like others have said i could get the iphone replaced for less at third party store for $70-$120

ddr 11-13-2011 01:15 PM

but the refurb is new battery and a lot of other parts too isn't it? comes with warranty or chance to purchase applecare+?

G 11-13-2011 01:20 PM

Try going to another apple store. I would take my chances at getting a nice rep and MAYBE having them replacing it for free. Ive seen it happen a lot.

shawn79 11-13-2011 01:30 PM

better yet, does anyone here works at apple? :troll:

even if im out of warranty?

G 11-13-2011 01:56 PM

^Yep. If you get a REALLY REALLY nice/happy rep. You can ask if you can buy extra warranty to entice them to replace for free or something..

Hey guys,

I want to buy a 4S from the States and get it shipped to a friend who's going to school there. She will bring the phone back here for me. The problem is buying it from apple requires an American billing address. My CC has my Canadian billing address, is there any other way to purchase the phone myself online and shipped to her?

MTV Cribs 11-17-2011 01:27 AM

Why don't you just buy it for yourself in the Canadian online Apple store? Here is the link

The difference is about $80 in taxes. Friend lives in Portland.

skholla 11-17-2011 11:43 AM

For $80 you are going to have your friend lie and smuggle it into Canada tax free? Doesn't sound smart to me... Don't be a Scrooge, pay the $80 and buy it here... Or get slapped with HST and duty at the border, oh yeah a 6 year border search naughty list too!!!

skholla 11-17-2011 11:44 AM

There's a reason why it won't take a Canadian billing address...

No lying involved. You're allowed to bring over certain amount of goods if you live there.

skholla 11-17-2011 03:50 PM

Cool. I believe the importation limit is only $60 though. Anything after that, including "gifts" are taxable. Same thing applies if a canadian brings goods across the border that will remain in the states.

"You can import gifts for friends into Canada duty- and tax-free as long as each gift is valued at CAN$60 or less. If the gift is worth more than CAN$60, you will have to pay duty and taxes on the excess amount. You cannot claim alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or business-related material as gifts."

If you stay over 4 days its much more than that. It's been covered here many times.
