I don't know what kind of hands this guy has for their demo but I am unable to make my BlackBerry 9700 lose reception by holding it in any way with one hand (left or right). The only way I can make it lose reception is if i cover the entire phone with both hands.

Tried the "death grip" with my Bold and I still had full signal.
If it really affected a lot of smart phones, doesn't Apple think the issue would have been brought up already? lol

anyways, keep in mind, the 9700 they used to demo was an ATT one. and ATT in the US SUCK SO MUCH compared to the rest of the carriers down there. Over in Europe and Japan, slight reception lost is being reported. It does make sense that only some users are affected.
Regardless, What apple did is cowardly, if this deal/fix doesnt apply to phase2 launch, then chaos will ensue.

that's where the 'think different' comes into play
other manufacturers would attribute the problems to the phones, but apple likes to think differently thus it's the consumers fault

never again shall i buy an iphone, im actually thinking about ditching my ipod as well because of this stunt by jobs. for those fan boys who are reading this post thinking, wow what a dink, think about this.. toyota just went through a massive recall of their products and didnt assert blame on anyone but themselves. they could have easily brought ford into all of it and said "hey, they made cars with a TON of recalls in the past, look at them, blah blah blah". BUT GUESS WHAT, they did what good corporations do, they stepped in and took care of the problem THEMSELVES and didnt blame anyone in the process. its just really really sad that apple's only solutions are to buy a case or hold it in a different way.

^ You don't know very much about Toyota and recalls do you?
Toyota knew about the problem for a long time and never did anything about it until they got pressured. Then they adamantly stated that the problem was the floor mats only and there was nothing else wrong with the cars. Then later it was determined that they also had sticky throttle pedals. This after stating the floor mats issue was the only problem.
Toyota initially blamed the problem on aftermarket floor mats and then later conceded their own floor mats could also become detached and block the pedals.
Then it was determined that the pedals that were sticking were made by an American company and that Japanese made pedals didn't stick. Toyota was careful not to make mention that it was an American company that made the defective pedals, but the press and fanboys were all over it.
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Don't go thinking Toyota is all high and mighty - this isn't the first recall they've had where they only did something after they were forced to.
Back in 2005 Toyota issued a recall for a steering problem on their trucks and SUV's. One year after issuing the same recall in Japan. Why does the US have to wait one full year before getting the exact same problem fixed on their vehicles?
Toyota has a long history of keeping things "internal" and not makeing the US government aware of possible safety problems, then only agreeing to a recall once the "secret was out".
