Anyways, I have been using an iPhone 4 for over 2 weeks now and I just want to say a few things, the antenna issue doesn't seem too big of a problem (for me) because I don't ever deathgrip my phone when i talked with it. Also the screen is really nice for what it is and the video recording is spectacular for a phone (I dont have to run around with a handy cam anymore) I have tried the deathgrip on my phone just to try it out... its hard to actually get it right to drop bars... you have to try for spots before you can even. So I highly doubt that it would really be a big issue for anyone, but of course they need a way to fix it because someone MIGHT deathgrip it in a right way by accident and missed a phone call. Although there are issues at the moment I dont find in that big of an issue as how people are describing it... if you try you will need to spend some time to actually find the right spot to deathgrip it to make it drop signals. Also that is if you hold your phone like that to talk... which is a weird way (for me at least)
That's because the video is trying to sell you something.
When you touch that spot, you're actually de-tuning the antenna and causing signal degradation. UI bars don't tell you anything.
It's a somewhat sizable loss, but this is significant only if you're in a weak signal area. Apple made a design decision to expose the antenna to conductive forces (you) in exchange for better reception when signal is weak.
Is this good or bad? Well, that's up to you. There's a lot of ppl who've never used the phone and otherwise dont' know what the fuck they're talking about commenting, though. That's good for a laugh.
If you want to see some bars drop where you're at, you can try putting the phone inside the microwave with the door closed as much as possible and hold that spot again. But again if signal is too strong, you won't see anything.

Funny part is that... if you think about it no one really holds their phones like that to talk or to use in any matter.... I think because there was a flaw people started jumping on it.
This does not justify in apple having a flaw in their phone because "it wont be common" for someone to hold this phone but I think this have became a bigger issue when other people got a hold of this and trying to hit apple hard.
For sure theres a problem but it doesnt affect me in anyway since I have been using the phone for over 2 weeks and had NO issues with it at the moment but only time will tell.

I never really paid much attention to how I hold my 3G when I talk, but once I thought about it, I hold both bottom corners with my hand... like so:
Although I had a case on the phone, I can see how many people who didn't have one would experience dropped calls.
I tried your exact way of holding the phone and you still dont have the "deathgrip" for the reception issue.
reason why the deathgrip occurs
ATT network sucks balls to begin with
I couldnt get four iphone4s to suffer deathgrip on Rogers network
I couldnt get a whack load of 9700 to have this issue(on rogers, bell and telus)
I couldnt get a OmniaII to do the same on bell network
clearly if one were to read around, the europeans dont have this issue, and if it does, its a small drop.
Apple has to protect their investors, being American, the problem began at home, and must be addressed. It sucks doesnt it
We still can't let Apple off the hook for the design flaw, but we will have to see how the iPhone 4 performs in Canada and other countries first.
I'm an iPhone 3GS user and am happy with my phone, I also had the 3G and first gen iPhone. I will most likely sit this one out but a lot of friends and family will be getting the 4. I have tried other phones but have never been as happy with the experience as I am with the iOS. Take a look at the stats, 77% of iPhone owners would buy another while only 20% of Android users would buy another. BB is a different beast, I use one for work and hate it, the ony good this about it is security and BBM, other than that it just blows. Posted via RS Mobile
