meh my x10 fell out of my pocket infinite times already and the only dmg i have on it so far is cosmetic dmg. i prefer plastic>glass coz chances of it cracking/shattering is much less.. even though it's not as nice..

I have a rough estimate on release through my information pipeline at rogers

July13th or July 28th

iMpulZ 06-10-2010 07:27 PM

Hopefully 13th but I see the 28th being a more likely release date just by comparing the dates for the iPad

When the iPhone came out it was new and kinda cool, but when compared to other phones it still lacked many features. And Apple sold tens of millions of them and took over 40% of the smartphone market with their "inferior" phones.

Now if you compare the iPhone 4 to other smartphones there's no clear-cut winner. Someone mentioned they liked the Evo 4G better. Very nice phone to be sure, but the iPhone is smaller, lighter, has a longer battery life, can connect to Wireless N and has two mics, with one working as a noise cancelling mic.

To me, these are significant advantages for the iPhone, which is a phone after all. When you wanna talk to someone, I would think dual mics is a pretty important feature. Certainly more so than video calling.

Bottom line is the iPhone 4 can hold its own with other smartphones where previous iPhones couldn't.

So, if Apple can sell millions of iPhones that are inferior to other phones (2g, 3g, 3gs), then how many iPhone 4's will they sell, now that it's actually comparable to other smartphones?

iPhone 4 will sell like crazy
another question though under settings and emails what's push mean? I saw someone asking about it but I realized I got no idea what it is.......

Push email is when email gets sent directly to your phone, you don't have to open the email app up and retrieve it.

Ikkaku 06-11-2010 11:26 AM

oldschool nokias ftw
5190 and 3390 went through hell and they still worked like new

only broke my 3390 because it sacrificed itself for me when i walked into the corner of a table... the corner went through the display :(

I am glad that not many Chinese got turn off by the number 4. lol.

I remember back in early 1990, Alfa Romeo has to change their name from 164 to 168 for Asian region just so they can sell it. :p

Nope man, I've been using a dumbphone for years. I'll probably get the iPhone4 when it becomes available.

For saving money and just having the utilitarian function of what a phone is supposed to do, (call people), you can't beat it.

Lately I've been finding myself in more situations where I need to 'google' something on the go, and my friends are getting annoyed that I keep phoning them asking for directory assistance.:haha:

StylinRed 06-12-2010 02:13 AM

my samsung a600 has been through a shitload of beatings but it actually still works and doesnt look like it hasn't been taken out of its box

btw... iphone sucks :D

got to admit though i like the white one :/

Guys, read here:
http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/hom...mco=OTY2ODA2OQ

Specifically:
When you purchase your iPhone from the Apple Online Store, you’ll get it commitment-free. So you can sign up for service with the carrier of your choice and change your carrier at any time.

This means that the iPhone 4 will be released in Canada with no contract or carrier lock. This also means that the Apple online store Canada will sell the iPhone 4 for full price (possibly 599/699 CDN) with factory unlock!

good for everyone but dealers and resellers of the iphone

hahaha

but if itsl ike the ipad, there is a chance that once u goto a store to activate, the settings it loads onto the phone will "lock" the phone to certain carriers

But if you read the site, it says you can change carriers at any time. That should imply unlock!

Tim Budong 06-15-2010 01:04 AM

means that the "activation versions of itunes" will unlock them and relock them for certain carriers

we will find out when it comes out

DanHibiki 06-15-2010 01:06 AM

I hope that's true because I'm looking to get an iphone straight up with no contract.

terkan 06-15-2010 01:31 AM

meh i'm thinking the phone will just lock itself once it's activated thru itune.. i mean.. the iphones u get from apple store here in canada.. ain't provider specific.. but once activated it'll lock to whichever provider. so it'll probably be the same. i'm hoping it's unlocked.. but i doubt it.. i mean.. they never had unlock iphones here in north america and they are still selling fine.. so why start now? think about how much money apple will lose out in contract with the big 3 if they are selling the iphone unlocked without contracts.. coz that means we don't have to sign a data contract..

rageguy 06-15-2010 02:08 AM

but you have to think about how pretty much all the big providers here in Vancouver already have iPhones. Chances are they will all subsidize the iPhone 4 too when it comes out. Apple may just be offering consumers a hassle free, contract free, lock free phone with no subsidization. Apple won't lose out in contract money because there is no such thing as exclusivity here.
