Most likely they realized it long before they bought their car. No-one with any knowledge of automobiles buys a BMW to be "fast;" at least not in a straight line. Even for the average douchebag BMW owner (note: not me ), the reason they bought it was because they were mesmerized by the badge on the hood, not because they thought they'd win a drag race.

Side note: I think it's kinda funny how people on this board rag on bimmer owners so hard. Most of it is in jest, no doubt, but some is authentic disdain. Not all people who drive BMW's are dicks. Some bimmer owners just appreciate a good car that's really fun to drive and looks nice. There's a reason why all car mags have a hard-on for every car wearing a BMW roundel...

its not just on rs, seems to be a very common stereotype. I try not to buy in to stereotypes but unfournately every bmw driver i've met so far are douche. Even the aunties that drive it have a stuck up attitude
